Hello Aspirant , Gap certificate is generally required for droppers, It's needed to make sure that you did not take any Admission in any other course , or get involved in any criminal or law breaking activity during that period and if you have joined any college without taking any break then you have to submit migration certificate and leaving certificate from the concerned university during the time of admission instead of gap certificate.
