There is no particular syllabus prescribed for General Ability section. This section might consist random questions from History, Mathematics, Geograph, Science, English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs. For Mathematics, you need to concentrate on: Numbers, HCF and LCM of Numbers, Decimal Fractions, Square Roots and Cube Roots, Average, Problems on Ages, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Pipes and Cistern, Time and Distance, Problems on Trains, Boats and Streams, Alligation, Simple and Compound Interest, Logarithms, Area, Volume and Surface areas, Calendar, Clocks, Permutation and Combinations, Probability, Reasoning, Sitting Arrangements, Blood relations and Data Interpretation at Class 10 level. So you can stick with NCERT for this.

In English section, command on your English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Understanding of the given paragraph are of more importance. Reading English NewsPaper will also help you in your preparation.

what are the minimum marks needed to clear the NEST exam ?

Zayed khan 15th May, 2020

DEAR

The cutoff varies every year. If you are an unreserved candidate, a minimum rank of 500 will get you into CEBS or NISER in first round counselling. AIR 1000 for reserved categories.

There are high chances for you if you score around 50% in the NEST exam.

  • For each section, 20% of the average of the best 100 scores in that section will be considered as Section wise Minimum Admissible Score (SMAS).
  • It means if the average of the best 100 scores in Chemistry section will be 40 out of 50, then SMAS for this section will be 40 x 0.20 = 8 marks. This process is similar to other section also.
  • Candidates should secure equal to or more than particular SMAS in the General section & also in at least three subject sections. Then, these subject sections will be counted in merit list calculation. In case, candidate’s scores SMAS in all four subjects sections, then the best three subject scores will be counted.
  • In a case, candidates not score SMAS in the general section or at least three subject sections, then they will not be allotted any merit rank & will not be eligible for admission.

Hope this helps.

GOOD LUCK!!

The scholarship that you get at the time of admission continues till the completion of the course. However, in case of reappear, fail or compartment, the scholarship is not applicable till the backlog is cleared and as soon as the student gets promoted to the next session or semester, the scholarship become valid again. Hope this helps. Good Luck
