It won't be a good option to drop a year. You can apply for NIT campus if your general rank is below 2 lakh. You can also apply for reputed university or private institutions who accepts jee mains for admission.

yes , you must have signed an bond regarding this , the bond value differs from college to college like some college have the seat bond of 2 lakhs where as some offer the same bond for 5 lakhs so you should ask your college administration about the bond amount

Students can appear in JEE Mains twice a year in three consecutive years from the year of passing their class 12 exam. This makes JEE Main number of attempts to six in a span of three years.
