I took a drop after 12th arts i had got 64% . plus I gave entrance exams of5 design colleges including nifty and nid but I passed in 3 only except nid and nift. Now I am confused what to opt for. I am very good at drawing and creativity. Any suggestions
Greetings,
If you do not wish to join colleges through any of the 3 exams that you cleared and are confused about career options then I will include some general career options for students interested in creative arts and such. (bear in mind that in this field of arts and creativity you will have to be a flexible person - meaning - you will have to work on things you do not enjoy and find ways to use your drawing or creative abilities to get work done)
1) Textile Designing - Doing this course can get you entry into the textile industry (fabric making, designing, marketing, distributing, etc.)
some great colleges other than NID and NIFT for this course
- Visva Bharati Santiniketan
- Nikalas Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur
- School of Fashion Technology, Pune
- Amity School of Fashion Technology, Noida
- International School of Design, Pune
2) Animation and Digital art and Graphic designing - this degree will open up opportunities in a wide variety of industries apart from animated movies and ads - like animated educational, medical, and interactive content. You can also work free lance on your own with this skill. work on contract basis for YouTube content creators or private persons who need something digitally drawn or animated like posters, videos, etc. Great future for this field.
some colleges
- Arena Multimedia (Delhi, Bengaluru, Noida, Mumbai)
- Global School of Animation (New Delhi, Chennai)
- Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematic (MAAC), Mumbai
- Tekno Point Multimedia (Bengaluru)
3) Web designing - you can use your artfulness and creativity to design how websites look and how they function - this is also an up and coming field with decent amount of competition as it is all online work. You will have to learn basic programming to distinguish yourself in this field - PHP, JavaScript and CSS, etc.
some colleges:
- Pacific Academy of Higher Education and Research
- Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore
- Zee Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA), Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai
- P.A. Inamdar Visual Effect, Design & Art, Pune
4) Event Management - This is a very demanding field of study for creative students and often pays the most out of them all if you manage to become a successful event manager for an established firm or your own business. you will have to find your specialty - and use all your creative powers as well as management of teams and management of finances. a versatile field through and through.
You will have to do a diploma if you want to course this field after 12th and after that you can do an MBA in it
some colleges:
- Amity university of Event Management
- National Institute of Event Management
- Institute for Tourism Future Management Trends (ITFT)
5) Photography and film making : Highly competitive and skill based field
- Most good colleges are in Mumbai and Bangalore
6) Make up Artist : I know, sounds cheap but it is not, I promise. This is a highly competitive and creative field that pays really well if you manage to find work in Bollywood. I know someone who completed her Electrical Engineering degree and went to Mumbai to become a make up artist - I think she works for a tv channel now and does make up for tv artists and tv serials.
institutes:
- BIBTHD, Mumbai
- Christine Valmy International School of Esthetics (Mumbai)
I hope the options helped expand your understanding of an arts career. of course there is a lot of things in the field which cannot all be included in one post.
best of luck to you.
which is the bestest college in both of NIFT or NID. for fashion designing ?
Hello Aspirant,
Since you mentioned specially for the Fashion Designing Course, I would say that NIFT is better than NID for you.
NID is definitely more dedicated more into the designing aspects like animation design, graphic design, product design, etc. But not all of them are fashion related.
But on the other hand, if you consider NIFT, they dedicate more courses related to the fashion world. They offer courses like fashion design, leather design, fashion communication etc.
So overall, NIFT would be a better option if you are willing to go for fashion designing.
Hope this helps, All the best!
