does NMC recognise NIOS board? so if a student of NIOS take admission in mbbs abroad and come back can they get a licence / registered in India as a doctor?

Vidya Kasi 10th Oct, 2021

Hi

NIOS board is accepted everywhere within the country and abroad. However you also have to meet the eligibility criteria for the courses in the institute where you are applying which varies from institute to institute and country to country. You can only take admission in a MBBS or a medical degree course abroad provided you have a eligibility certificate which is mandated by the medical council of India .

The website states

"he/ she had obtained ‘Eligibility Certificate’ from the National Medical Commission (or the erstwhile Medical Council of India) as per the ‘Eligibility Requirement for taking admission in an undergraduate medical course in a Foreign Medical Institution Regulations, 2002’. This requirement shall not be necessary in respect of Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India who have acquired the medical qualifications from foreign medical institutions or have obtained admission in foreign medical institution before 15th March 2002."

Furthermore the website also states " that the 2018 notification to the Screening Test Regulations clearly states that all Indian Citizens/Overseas Citizen of India who have obtained a primary medical qualification from any Medical Institution outside India have to qualify the prescribed Screening test for purposes of obtaining registration in India in addition to fulfilling other eligibility criteria stated in the regulations. It is to clarify that the National Medical Commission does not endorse any list of Foreign Medical Institutions/ Universities for MBBS or equivalent course. The public at large is advised that before taking admission in MBBS or its equivalent course in a university outside India, confirmation of the fee structure, details of the course (which should be commensurate with the MBBS courses in India such as content, duration and internship) etc. should be directly obtained from the University/ Institution concerned."

After getting a primary medical qualification /MBBS from a foreign university if the candidate wants to pursue further education in India or wants to practice medicine in India they will have to appear for a MCI screening test/FMGE mandatorily.

Only those candidates are exempted from the screening test who hold an Undergraduate medical qualification from Australia/Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America and the holder thereof also been awarded a Post Graduate medical qualification in Australia/Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America and has been recognized for enrolment as medical practitioner in that country.

Except this countries all the graduates from other countries have to give the screening test.

FMGE is conducted biannually.

I am a student of PCMB(bio is my optional subject in class 11 &12) .I expect to score 600+ in neet 2021.After getting addmission in a medical college will i face any problem for having bio as optional subject? (in Next exam eligibility criteria Or in registration in NMC as a doctor)

Sameek Das 27th Sep, 2021

Hello dear aspirant, hope you are doing well.

If you have studied biology for both the standards and have attended practicals and taken exams and have minimum of 50% of marks then irrespective of being an additional subject it will be counted valid. Had it been in 12th and not in 11th then it could've caused problem. Since you have taken in both standards it won't be a problem, just score above 50%.

Hope it helped.

My daugheter is doing MBBS internship at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences, Umarda, Udaipur, Rajasthan-Self Finance Institute(Sai Tirupati Uni). She is not getting stipend. Complaint was registered to college authorities and NMC website but no response. Can you guide me how can she get stipend?

rajeevanand843 1st Sep, 2021

Hii sir

Any stipend in the self finance college are paid by the college and hospital management. In government college it's paid by state government and its almost fixed through the state. Although stipend in self finance college's it varies from college to college and it's depends upon the college management, some are paid quite nice some college just pay for the hostel food and some little money.

Most probably it will be not like that your daughter is the single students who is not getting stipend there's batchmates also may not be getting. If the college management are paying others student so they should pay your daughter too for the internship.

If many students are not getting the required stipend then they can complain to their University and ofcourse with NMC too. They can also held protest march with the help of college students union about that. These are the only possible way to get that.

Otherwise she is only one who is not getting then she should questions the management to give the specific reason for that and if you don't feel it's competent reason you can register complaint to the university of the college or NMC.

Thank you !!

i applied for mci eligiblity certificate on 2018 but i didnt receive the eligiblity certificate .i mailed and called the eligiblity section but didnt receive any reply .i even given a complaint in the new delhi nmc office but didnt receive any positive reply what should i do next?

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 31st Jan, 2021
Hello,

MCI recently announced regarding issuance of Eligibility Certificate to students who wish to study MBBS in abroad from 2018 onwards:

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has come out with a new notice making amendments in the Screening Test Regulations, 2002 and also in Eligibility Requirement for taking admission in an undergraduate medical course in a Foreign Medical Institution Regulation, 2002. It says that if a student is eligible as per clause 4 in the Graduate Medical Education Regulation, 1997 and that student clears NEET for admission in any college/university abroad on or after 1st June 2018, then that student does not have to apply for an eligibility certificate and the NEET result shall serve the purpose of the Eligibility Certificate.
Hence , from now, the NEET score of a candidate will serve as the Eligibility Certificate. The student must qualify NEET to be eligible for MBBS in abroad.

I hope this helps.
