Is NERIST is a good institute for btech ?

Ayush 4th Apr, 2019

Hello Abhinav,

the college reputation depends on many factor, here to simplify the answer I have divided the answer in some parts.

Societies & Associations

There is a student body known as SUN (Students Union of Nerdist). It helps in dealing with any problems or emergency faced students if any.

Apart from that, there are Student unions of respective States and Department. There are many functions and programs conducted in the institute. The main is RACAF, which is a cultural cum recreational program.

Another is SHRISTI which is a competitive scene for showcasing talents in various academic or department.

College Infrastructure

There are hostel for Girls, Boys and Post Graduate students. The boys' hostel is divided into 8 buildings out if which 3 are 2 storied.

At present, there is only 2 Girl's hostel of 2 storied, which is bit of a problem regarding adequate accommodation. The hostel is good enough. In a room maximum of 2 students are appointed.

Academics & Faculty

Normally classes start at 8 am in the morning to 5 pm in evening with the 1-hour lunch break at 1 pm to 2 pm. But depending on your branch the routine is set. Lecturers and professors do give us assignment and project from time to time.

Each semester 2 quiz (MCQ) of 10 marks each is conducted. Practical exam is conducted too and then their mid-semester exam and end semester exam.

In my Forestry Department, I had excellent experience of learning as the lecturers and Professor were very good at teaching. They provided us with lectures and notes. Overall the experience was amazing. No complaints.

Fees and Scholarship

Fee structure is very affordable as compared to other major institute. During new admission a student would have to pay about INR 25000 for first 6 months for the next 6 months they would have to pay around INR 12000.

Scholarship: There are various types of scholarship that are provided. It is provided to students who obtain good grades (above 8 GPA).

Another type of scholarship is also provided to ST, SC who secures good grades. Loans are normally not required as the Fee is affordable.

Placements & Internships

For ST stipend cum scholarship are provided. We need to apply for it at the Academic Branch. Placement: The most popular hiring time to time is done by OIL (Oil India Limited). Apart from that, some small companies from IT sector do visit for campusing.

The most popular Candidates who got placed at OIL is said to get around INR 90,000 for first couple years.

Alumni network: There is good connectivity among the alumni network with the institute. They do visit or get invited on occasions such as silver jubilee.

So choose accordingly

Hope it helps

Thankyou

Is NERIST a good institute for btech?

Subham Prajapati 26th Mar, 2019

Hiiii Bidonstar,

North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is a Deemed University which was established in the year 1986. It provides Bachelor of Technology course in 6 streams listed below:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering

There are several factors which determine the goodness of a college. I have explained some of the factors below:

  • Fee Structure and Facilities: This college is quite feasible in terms of fees as it is funded by the Government. The academic fee for the first year is merely 11000 rupees and the total fee for four years is around 40000 rupees. The facilities are quite decent and the ambience is good.

  • Faculty:  Although the number of faculties in each branch is not up to mark, the faculties in this college are well qualified. Faculties are quite supportive and qualified. They are updated with the latest technologies and software. The majority of faculties are from the southern and northern part of India. Still, I would rate the faculty section of this college at 6 out of 10.
  • Placement: The placement at NERIST is average. The average package hovers around 3 lakhs. Recruiters like Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Zaloni, Ashai, Powergrid visits for placement. The placement can be better but it lacks required connectivity due to which various companies don't visit the college.

Taking all the above-listed factors, you should analyse if you really wanna get admitted into this college. I won't grade this college as very good but at the same time, it is not that bad when you don't have any other better options. The most fascinating thing about this college is you can complete your Bachelor of Technology course at just around 40000 bucks whereas in various other colleges the fee is around 40000 per semester. Moreover, you can definitely find a job if you study well and get into the list of top rankers of the college.

I hope the above information about NERIST was helpful. For any other query, feel free to contact anytime.

Thank You and All the Best.

If a student after HSLC appears for NEE1 and get addmission in Nerist , does that student also need to appear for NEE2 AND NEE3 Later on?

Samrin Khan 8th Jun, 2018

No you dont need to give!Actually NERIST has a different pattern of admissions. There is the diploma course offered to students after 10+2 through NEE II which is the entrance exam. This course is of 2 years. Candidates can further appear for NEE III after completing their diploma to avail admissions to the degree course which will be of 2 years. The institute doesn't offer a B.Tech course directly to students after class 12. You could check their details here - https://nerist.ac.in/sites/default/files/pdf/Information%20Brochure_NEE%202017.pdf. This is the information for last year but the admission process is the same every year.
