many people are saying that petrochemical engineering is very risky decision for future isnt? and minimum package in PE? i am in confusion please help me

Shudhanshu Gupta Student Expert 17th Oct, 2019
Hello.
Your concern is genuine yes pursuing petrochemical engineering is risky for future but it is not true that you will not have placement after doing it because it depends on the market two - three year back petrol and diesel was on the peak
But now due to the effect of political and economical condition companies are not hiring new employees while they are kicking the old ones also.
Even in future it is risky to have placement because engineers and scientists are working to find that technology by which vehicle could run without using petrol and diesel only thing which they trying to use as a fuel is water.
Best of luck.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 17th Oct, 2019
hello,
petrol chemical engineering and pharmaceutical are two different path of careers. however if you don't get good colleges or government colleges its really difficult to get petro chemical engineering job, as most of the companies are government. most of the students opted for MBA after petro chemical . now coming to pharmacy its job market is good compare to petro chemical. you may work as a sales executive, pharmacist in many medicine manufacturing company.

I am from govt. College in petrochemical engineering . whats the placement in the future?

kartikjain2548 Student Expert 10th Aug, 2019

Hello,

There are many government colleges in India offering petrochemical engineering. Since you have not mentioned particular college. I am telling you thr general placements scenario.

The placements in this feild are very limited because less petroleum resources are available in India. But it is expected to increase in mear future as new petroleum refinery is going to open in Rajasthan. And also many private industries are getting into the market. So the placement might increase. The recruiters are Hindustan petroleum, Indian oil, Reliance, Essar, etc,

Petrochemical engineering & petrochemical technology which one is better for future ? Which one is lowest fees ?

siddhiarora2311_9776369 Student Expert 22nd Jul, 2019
Hey Kannan!

Either of them. Most importantly, you should have thoroughly known about the difference in two. Go through their syllabus and try to understand which one grasps your interest more.

Petroleum engineering:

It Deals with the upstream, which means it is basically related to exploration and production. The major areas involved in petroleum engineering are drilling, reservoir, exploration of gases. Petroleum products include resins, varnishes, paints etc. Downstream basically involves refining. Upstream involves exploration.

Petroleum technology :

This field involves logical design development and operations of process systems for the extraction, alteration, and revival of economically useful materials. The program attempts to develop individuals with a specialization in petrochemicals, petroleum refining, and other important fields.

For more queries, feel free to ask!

Best of luck!

I am an average student will i be able to be succesful in petrochemical engineering?what all i have to do for my better future?

snehasinha1718 Student Expert 8th Jul, 2019

Hey,

The oil and gas industry also has its own predictions of how many petroleum engineers it will need in the future. The American Petroleum Institute expects that by 2035, the industry will employ almost double the number of petroleum engineers in the workforce as of 2015. That amounts to about 30,000 new jobs.

Plus, the industry also expects many current petroleum engineers will retire in the next decade. That means that in addition to the baseline job growth, there could be more than 7,000 additional jobs the industry will need to fill.

Petroleum engineering needs a knowledge of many other disciplines such as geophysics, petroleum geology, formation evaluation, drilling, economics, reservoir simulation, reservoir engineering, well engineering, artificial lift systems, etc.

Petroleum engineers can also work in drilling sites. Job opportunities for the professionals of this field also exist in foreign countries like the United States.

Petroleum engineering degree holders can also start their career in teaching field.

Hence you hold to stand a good future if you chose petroleum engineering and work hard towards  it.

Hope this helps.
