Petrochemical Engineering
Hello,
There are many government colleges in India offering petrochemical engineering. Since you have not mentioned particular college. I am telling you thr general placements scenario.
The placements in this feild are very limited because less petroleum resources are available in India. But it is expected to increase in mear future as new petroleum refinery is going to open in Rajasthan. And also many private industries are getting into the market. So the placement might increase. The recruiters are Hindustan petroleum, Indian oil, Reliance, Essar, etc,
Both have the same syllabus and represent the same meaning.
In Petrochemical Engineering, u will learn everything about chemical engineering and an extra subject about petrochemicals and its technology (how crude is processed and separated into various products)
In technology, u may learn about the new innovations, technologies that are developed or being used in other countries.
Hey,
The oil and gas industry also has its own predictions of how many petroleum engineers it will need in the future. The American Petroleum Institute expects that by 2035, the industry will employ almost double the number of petroleum engineers in the workforce as of 2015. That amounts to about 30,000 new jobs. Plus, the industry also expects many current petroleum engineers will retire in the next decade. That means that in addition to the baseline job growth, there could be more than 7,000 additional jobs the industry will need to fill. Petroleum engineering needs a knowledge of many other disciplines such as geophysics, petroleum geology, formation evaluation, drilling, economics, reservoir simulation, reservoir engineering, well engineering, artificial lift systems, etc. Petroleum engineers can also work in drilling sites. Job opportunities for the professionals of this field also exist in foreign countries like the United States. Petroleum engineering degree holders can also start their career in teaching field. Hence you hold to stand a good future if you chose petroleum engineering and work hard towards it.
Hope this helps.
