A total energy of the body excuting s.h.m isE then the kinetic energy when displacement is half of the amplitude is

siddhiarora2311_9776369 Student Expert 15th Aug, 2019

Hey Kanhaiya!

Displacement= a/2

Total energy=1/2 m* (omega)^2* (a)^2 ....(1)

KE when displacement= x is

1/2 m* (omega)^2* [(a)^2-(x)^2]

1/2 m* (omega)^2* [(a)^2-(a/2)^2]

3/4(1/2*m* (omega)^2* (a)^2) .....(2)

By dividing 2 by 1, we get: 3/4

Therefore total fraction is 3/4
