Computer Science Engineering is a B.E degree whereas IT a is B.Tech degree. It is more application oriented but Computer Science Engineering goes with the understanding of the application itself. Computer science engineering will deal with theory as well as practical application equally but Information Technology majorly focuses on practical application. Placement opportunities will be more or less equal. But the problem arises when firing from job occurs. They will prefer a computer science engineering student over Information technology student. Even there will be difference in couple of papers for semesters. Have IT as your second preference. ALL THE BEST. Hope the was helpful.
Thank You.

Computer science engineering includes the study of design, computational processes and programming languages. Students get to learn technical know-how about how to develop a variety of hardwares and softwares and gain knowledge about communications systems and other similar devices. Usually students and potential candidates tend to confuse computer science engineering and computer science as one subject. There is a large difference between both subjects. Computer science is a study focused on troubleshooting issues on a software level. This study deals with programming languages and operating systems and learning the technical aspects related to software and its advancements. On the other hand, computer engineering is a study focused on hardware and software interface development as well as its related problems.
Information Technology (IT) is the application of technology to solve organizational and business problems. This field of engineering uses computers, networks, storage, and other technical infrastructure both hardware and software, to deal with and manipulate information/data.

Hello student,
Having an mtech will not decrease your chances what you had heard is completely nonsense. Having mtech will increase your chances in different good companies, and also your salary. There is only few seats for mtech in government colleges so doing mtech in any government college will increase your job opportunities.
Hope this will help
Thank you
Placement statistics cannot be predicted it is completely dependent on the students performance. Certain colleges will have best record at particular year but there will be increase and decrease in statistics after or before that year. That is because of the performance given by that batch.
So the prediction of increase and decrease of placement will rely on the batch you would be a part of.
