To say straightforward it is difficult, because both colleges are good. But placements wise you can choose Vasavi College of Engineering. The quality of computer science and information technology placements is outstanding, 31.77 LPA is the maximum package received so far and is offered by Amazon. Many well-respected firms come here for placements. The college is always supportive of every college student. As per the Alumni Students Reviews To address the requirements of classrooms, labs and other general services, the IT department has a carpet area of 1585sqmts. Laboratories are newly built, well-equipped machines. There are 4 research laboratories composed of 164 systems for UG, 1 PG and ore. The servers area has many servers, such as Oracle, NPTEL, Proxy, Red Hat Linux 5.0 and plenty more. The campus does have a high-speed internet network with 100Mbps all over the campus. 4 labs are part of the department. So overall the summary of rating for both colleges are as follows

Don't worry about the star in your intermediate memo just go on with the life. If you are fearing about that then you need not worry many companies which offer campus placement and interviews they check that do you have a minimal knowledge about the job offer and the company. Mostly companies check your performance in b.tech because they offer jobs based on your b.tech stream.

Since you have mentioned top nits so i assume it as nit trichy.

Production engineering from nit trichy is a good option than mechanical engineer from iiit jabalpur.

Since nit trichy have a good ranking than iiist jabalpur and reputation of nit trichy is also good.

Placement is better in nit tham iiit jabalpur . Because average salary package offer in nit are around 9 lpa while in iist it is around 7.50 lpa.
