what are the do or die topics in plant physiology as questions are very less asked in neet??
meaning of senescence from plant physiology
Senescence is a process in which cells reach permanent growth arrest without the death of cells as the whole cell division process comes to a halt.
It can either occur at the cellular level or senescence of the whole organism can take place.
It is characterized by a gradual functional decline eventuating heterogeneously across organ systems leading to a progressive deterioration ultimately leading to dysfunctioning of tissues.
This cellular program induces stable growth arrest.
The ageing process, on the whole, can be classified into three groups:
-
Causes of age-associated damage – Primary
-
Response to damage – Antagonist
-
Consequences of Responses – Integrative
These cells pose a threat as they can cause cancers, damage tissues and degrade their functionality, increase chronic inflammation etc
Causes of Senescence may include Telomere Erosion, DNA Damage, Oncogene activation, irradiation, cell culture, stress on mitochondrial homeostasis. Excessive mitochondrial ROS has known to initiate cell ageing.
the pteridophyte also reproduce sexually with help of water as medium like briophytes but why briophytes called as amphibians of plant kingdom
Hi Praveen
Bryophytes are true amphibians. They require water for every physiological needs. Even cell to cell communication is in need of water , not only reproduction. Pteridophytes upto major extent have curbed this need of water and they have vasculature and other tissues developed. So they are not true amphibians.
Hope it helps :)
flaccid cell means 1 cell turbidity 2 plasmolysed cell 3 the cell in which water flows in and out of cell are in equilibrium 4 the cell kept in hypotonic solution
The answer will be 2. Plasmolysed cell.
A plasmolysed cell is the one whose protoplast is contracted because of water loss. Similarly a flacid cell is the one whose walls are not tightly putting pressure on the cell.wall due to loss of water. Turgid cell is opposite of plasmolysis. Hope this helps.
Good luck!
which process dows not depend upon living system please help from plant physiology?
Hi Shreya
Diffusion is the process that does not depend upon living system.
Diffusion is a slow process , where the molecules move from region of its higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. It is a passive transport mechanism which is non dependent on a living system. But needs or depend on concentration gradient , the permeability of the seperating membrane , temperature and pressure.
Hope it helps :)
sir i completed msc agriculture in plant physiology and i completed net also .. i am from andrapradesh ..sir is there any vacancy to join as a assistent professor ..pls inform me if there any vacancy ..thank you sir
