BA(hons.) Political Science in St.xaviers, Mumbai? Ive got 96%(ISC BOARD)and Im from general category, Ill get the admission this year?

Srija Mitra 26th Jul, 2021

Hi,

The eligibility criteria to get admission in BA Hons. in Political Science in St.Xavier's, Mumbai is that the candidate should score at least an average marks of 45% in 12th board exams.

So, you have a high probability of getting admission into the college because 96% is great but again the admission process is merit-based & it depends on the availability of seats so during the counselling process, if there are more number of students who have scored more than you & are applying for the same course then they will get more priority.

So, there's a good chance for you to get admission but there's no guarantee that you will surely get a seat.

All the best!

The eligibility criteria for CS suggests that for CS Executive course  a candidate should have passed Class 12 in any discipline (except Fine Arts) from a recognized university or equivalent. How is Political Science as an Optional Subject for UPSC?

Aditi Yadav 18th Jul, 2021
Hey aspirant!

First of all the Optional is PSIR, Political Science and International Relations. You don't have to just study Political Science sub subjects like Comparative Politics, Political Theory,Western Political Thought, etc. but also International Relations.

Advantages of Political Science as Optional

i.Definitely going to help you in not just mains but also in prelims.

ii.Indian Polity is very important part of prelims and you can easily prepare for both Prelims and Mains at the same time.

iii.General Studies Paper II has most questions of Polity and Governance.

iv.It is a social science subject,so you can easily mug up some facts if you don't understand it. ie.Political Science is a non- technical subject like Physics, Mathematics, etc.

v.Sources (Books and Notes)are easily available.

vi.Some topics like feminism, liberalism, democracy, rights, duties is also a part of General Studies Paper-I.

vii.You will get to learn a lot in current affairs due to international relations as your Optional.

Disadvantages of Political Science as Optional

i.Syllabus is vast in comparison to sociology, anthropology etc. and there is no debate about it.

ii.International Relations is just something which changes daily. So,you need to keep eyes on different International news.
