There basic criteria of calculating the marks for making the merit list is- ● 50% of the marks scored in 12th ● 50% of the marks scored in the entrance exam.

You can join mechanical, civil.although every field of engineering have maths tricks that you usually use in everyday work.but it's not too difficult to be solved.
But in my opinion other streams have scope too.it is not compulsory that you should do b.tech.
