Arihant publishers book would be good for JEE Mains preparation but I think it would be not sufficient for JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced requires more depth in concepts while Arihant publishers book is generally based on NCERT topics that are not that in depth as required in JEE advanced

the sum of first n terms of series 1/2+3/4+7/8+5/16---is equal to

Mounika Sonti 29th Jun, 2020

Hello!!

Hope you are doing great!!!

Given series:1/2+3/4+7/8+15/16+...........

It can be written as,

=(1-1/2)+(1-1/4)+(1-1/8)+(1-1/16)+...............n

=(1-1/2)+(1-1/2^2)+(1-1/2^3)+(1-1/2^4)+..............(1-1/2^n)

taking like terms common,

=(1+1+1+...........n) - (1/2+1/2^2+1/2^3+1/2^4............)

=n - (1/2+1/2^2+1/2^3+1/2^4............)

The above series is in GP

The sum of GP can be given by the formula a(1-r^n) / 1-r

=n - 1/2(1-1/2^n) / 1-1/2

=n
