PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore
Hi,
Sandwich course in PSG Tech is similar to a normal B.E but for 5 years. (It is not an integrated M.E course, which is what people usually confuse with). In Addition to normal B.E certificate Sandwich students will get an industrial training certificate for 2000hours.
The main thing about sandwich course is students will be sent for a Two months internship to various industries in India and also to some of the foreign universities at the end of the 3rd year. This opportunity is only for sandwich students.
Choosing sandwich is a good choice but you have to be ready to spend one extra year for course completion. And also the timings of regular classes is only in afternoon.
The placement records are pretty good as per compared than average.
The Average annual package is about 4 lakhs
also the companies which have been the top recruiters are YAHOO, LNTINFOTECH, WIPRO, KPMG, TATA STEEL , etc
The placement is PSG Tech is one of the best among Indian colleges. Nearly 200 companies come to college for placements, and the college has one of the excellent placement histories. In my senior batch, everyone got placed both in core and software sectors. The companies like Bosch, Texas Ins, Microsoft, Schneider, Qualcomm, Oracle etc., visit the college for placements.
The entire campus is facilitated with Wi-Fi, and there are decent classrooms with a good atmosphere. It has 2 big playgrounds. The quality of labs in all the departments is too good. The research lab is also unique. The hostel rooms are satisfactory. The canteen provides both south and north Indian food. The taste is better than any other canteens.
The teachers here are from IITs, NITs and Anna University. They are very well-qualified and experienced. The teaching is made interesting with practical classes. The ratio of student to faculty is quite good. PSG has already Motor and Pumps industry, Lathe manufacturing, carpentry inside the campus for manufacturing and learning purpose.
All the best to you
Hello Nithish,
I am providing you the review of PSG tech...
Quality of Professors : Very specific to the department you intend to opt for. I cannot make blanket statements, but in my case, it was a bell curve spanning from exceptionally good to bad, but the exceptionally good ones made it worth it.
Diversity of Students : You can find a decent amount of students from other states, predominantly Erstwhile AP, Kerala and a smattering of North and North East. If in not in your class, you can definitely find people from the same region through clubs and hostel. But my advice would be to not tie yourself to a clique.
Rules and Regulations : No, the college doesn't have ridiculous rules like the ones you mention. But you may find certain hostel rules annoying. Especially if you are girl - you should be ready to coop yourself up in the hostel before 6:30 PM. I think it was slightly better for the guys - 9:00 PM, if I am not wrong. The girls' hostel was also a little uptight about how many weekends you got to go home. Overall, I would say the hostel is manageable with some prudent planning or carefully executed flouting of rules.
Freedom to Students : You do have the occasional professor trying to make life difficult but on the whole, it's a pretty chilled out place. But again, highly department-specific.
Quality of Hostel rooms : Much better than hostels of Government colleges from what I hear. But you would do well to keep your expectations at a minimum. We do have an amazing ground, though.
Food/Canteen,Quality of Infrastructure : The canteen food is your standard college fare, nothing remarkable. But affordable and better than hostel food at any rate. Though Tech doesn't have a sprawling campus like you would expect from a college of this stature, it does have good labs and libraries. And the industry right inside the campus is definitely something not many colleges can boast about.
Extra-curricular activities : Tech has a fair amount of clubs, for interests as varied as literature, fine arts, astronomy, nature, music and automobiles, which remain active throughout the year. You also have the usual suspects - sports, NCC, NSS. A shout-out to the totally awesome English Literary Society.
Recognition from foreign universities : Going by the universities where I know Tech alumni pursue further studies - CMU, Illinois etc. to name a few, I daresay it is widely-known.
Quality of Students : Remarkable. Comparable to the best colleges in the country. Tech gives you a good peer group that competes with you either through intellect or sheer hard work. Nearly two years after graduation, I still count some of my batch mates among the best minds that I know of. This should be a clincher.

Hello Karthick
Please mention the course you want to study at PSG or Anna University, is it Engineering or MBA as the cutoff is different for each of the courses.
Hey Kousalya,
YEs , you can change your branch but there are some limitation and eligibility careteria.
You have to secure top rank because there are lots of branch so if each branch students change their branch then crowd of CSE or ECE or IT will increase.
So if you will secure 1st rank then you will have chances to change your branch.
Good Luck!
