To become a cognitive psychologist which course to choose in msc? Clinical psychology, counseling or hrdm

Muskan Dhalwal 8th Aug, 2022

Hi,

Your cognitive psychology major will expose you to both past and current research—in most programmes, you'll even have the opportunity to conduct your own research or assist with others' projects.

Cognitive psychology, like most psychology disciplines, is interdisciplinary to a large extent, and your studies will include courses in philosophy, linguistics, statistics, and other areas of psychology such as social, clinical, and developmental psychology.

You can either go for Clinical or Counseling as your major subjects in Masters, along with the other interdisciplinary subjects for the holistic approach of this course.

Job prospects after doing this degree are -

- Some cognitive psychologists may work in medical and mental health settings. Cognitive psychologists may work in hospitals and mental health clinics to assist people with cognitive issues.

- Cognitive psychologists also work in research settings to gain a better understanding of mental processes. Many people who conduct research also teach at universities. They conduct studies and publish research that advances our collective understanding of various topics in cognitive psychology.

Can I take MA applied psychology and become forensci psychologist?

bhumika tiwari 1st Jul, 2022

Hi there.

A training course in applied psychology focuses on teaching students how to apply fundamental psychological concepts (theories, principles, procedures, and strategies) in real-world situations. Most applied psychology undergraduate programmes last at least four years to finish. If you choose to continue your studies, a master's degree will take an additional 2.5 years, and a PhD would take an additional 5–7 years.

With a degree in applied psychology, you can work as a forensic psychologist. You will mostly work in the criminal justice system with this degree.Additionally, you'll be in charge of managing any legal and competence concerns that can come up during a trial. You could have to work with rapists, murderers, child abusers, or mentally ill defendants, which is vital to recognise.
