Sports psychology and exercise psychology can be respectively define as study of thoughts, feelings and behaviour in relation to either the sporting or the exercise domain sport and exercise psychology are actually two endeavours.

The first involves the work of getting information about the role of mental factors in physical domains. It is about the pure science of doing research, including theory building and conducting investigations. In contrast the second endeavour is concerned with applied science.
