Acid rain describes a form of precipitation that contains high levels of nitric and sulfuric acids. It can also occur in the form of snow, fog, and tiny bits of dry material that settle to Earth. Normal rain is slightly acidic, with a pH of 5.6, while acid rain has ph between 4.2-4.5.the effects of acid rain could be many like climate change,it has major polutants which are harmful to people on earth.these pollutants damage both the environment and health of people.it also causes some serious problems to aquatic life.few of them can tolerate but many aquatic life die which eventually causes a disturbance in food chain.it also spoils the soil of the forest which contains essential nutrients,hence no water to plants and trees so it causes problems to forests as well.hence it causes some serious problems .

Acid rain is caused by emissions of sulphur dioxide dioxide and nitrogen oxide, which react with the water molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids. Acid rain has adverse impacts on forests, freshwaters, and soils, killing insect and aquatic life-forms, causing paint to peel, corrosion of steel structures such as bridges, and weathering of stone buildings and statues.Many bacteria and blue green algae are killed due to acidification, disrupting the whole ecological balance.

Acid contaminates with potable water and enter man’s body. The heavy metals released by acid rain may cause potential threat to human health.

Acid rain is precipitation of rain having acidic components such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, the acidic decomposition can take place in two ways; dry and wet, acid rains washes away all the nutrients which are important for the growth of the plant, it adversely affect agriculture by changing the composition of the soil, similarly the aquatic ecosystem is impacted as it pollutes the water changing the chemical composition of the water, it's one of the cause of respiratory diseases in living beings, it deteriorates building and monuments made of stones and metals.one of the effective way to curb acid rain is to check the emission of acidic components, and adopt renewable form of energy to have fewer emissions.

As coming to the query, pH is a measurement of electrically charged particles in a substance. It indicates how acidic or alkaline  that substance .The ph value of most cleaning water lies between 6 to 8.5.Generally natural water has low ph value.

when rain combines with sulfur dioxide or nitrogen oxides and produced from power plants and automobiles and the rain becomes much more acidic. Typical acid rain has a ph value of 4.0.

When the pH of the rain is less than 5 then it is called acid rain is due to the poisonous gasses like SO2 and NOx released from the industries due and increased vehicle use and on the road into the atmosphere which leads pollution these gasses travel through air and Combine woth oxygen and other chemicals in the water leads to the formation of sulfuric and nitric acids and these react with water of rain makes the rain acidic. SO2 and NOX are the compounds which are majorly responsible for  acid rain. The yellowish colour of marbel of Taj Mahal was due to this rain as area around taj mahal was highly polluted and there are lot of effects like skin diseases,  pollution of water and air and harms aqatic and wild life, leaching of aluminium from clay many others.
