mam i have scored 61 marks in jee mains of 2021 can i get any university with base of sc category

Ashish Kumar Verma 8th Mar, 2021

Hello Dear,

Chances of getting college on this marks is high there is a chance you might government college as you belong to SC Category. You can check some of the cutoff of the colleges in the list below:

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff

But as per my opinion you should wait for the counselling. On this marks your percentile must be between 87.51- 90.70 and general rank between 115045 - 85657. https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

But as you know the cutoff changes every years because it depends upon the number of seats available, the difficulty level of paper and number of candidates writing the examination hence varies every year depending on these factors. It also depends on home state and other state as you have not mentioned your home state. You can check out your rank on the basis of your score from the below link.

Vibhanshu 8th Mar, 2021

Hi,

The cutoffs changes every year depending upon the pattern and difficulty of JEE Mains, popularity of a college, depending upon you home/state quota, reservation category and the demand of a particular branch. I am assuming you are male of a general category. To get seat in any NIT with any branch, you should have 150+ marks.

I have scored 98%in 12th and has got 71 percentile in JEE mains and I am under OBC-NCL category. Do I have any chances of getting admission in IISc???

Sharon Rose Student Expert 8th Mar, 2021

Hello,

Admission in to Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in Bachelor of Science is based on merit in JEE Main/JEE Advanced/NEET UG/KVPY. For admission through JEE Main the All India Rank secured by the candidate is considered. In the year 2020 the JEE Main All India cut off rank for OBC-NCL was 7501-12000. So candidates whose AIR is below 12,000 are eligible to get admission. Considering the expected percentile in JEE Main you may expect your AIR to be over 1,00,000 with such rank it is difficult to get seat in IISc, Bangalore. You need to score above 98 percentile to have high chances of getting seat. Cut off changes every year depending on the number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and number of seats available etc. Based on the previous year qualifying cut off percentile you may not qualify in JEE Main with 71 percentile. The cut off percentile in 2020 for OBC-NCL was 72.8887969. In 2021 it is expected to be in between 70-75 percentile. So you should aim to score above the qualifying percentile and to get seat in IISc, Bangalore you need to score 98 percentile or above. You may appear for upcoming JEE Main sessions and perform well.

AM CURRENTLY IN +2 CBSE AND APPEARING ALL 4 JEE MAIN SESSIONS. WHEN SHOULD I APPLY FOR NIT ADMISSION? WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?

Shrishty sahu 8th Mar, 2021
Dear student,

You need to wait right now for all the results of the four sessions and if you crack jee mains then you will be eligible for josaa counseling which is a gateway to admission in an iit/nit/iiit/ gfti. Note: If you do not crack jee advanced after cracking jee mains then you will not be eligible for admission in iit's but eligible foradmission in a nit/iiit/gfti. And josaa counselling is not going to happen right now, you need to wait un till the declaration of jee advanced results. Josaa is a counselling for students that have cracked jee mains or jee advanced and wish to take admission in an iit/nit/iiit/gfti. Once all the four sessions of jee mains have been conducted along with jee advanced and the results are also declared, then your best marks out of the four sessions will be considered for the counselling or if you cracked jee advanced then it's score will also be considered and you will be given a list of colleges in which you are eligible to take admission. You then need to give your choices of colleges in priority manner and you will be assigned a college according to your rank in jee mains or jee advanced. Josaa counseling involves the following steps:
  • Registration for JoSAA Counselling 2021

  • Choice filling and locking of choices

  • Mock seat allotment

  • Announcement of seat allotment result

  • Payment of seat acceptance fees

  • Reporting of candidates at reporting centres

  • Confirmation of admission by allotted institute
