Yes, they are among the schools where many seek admission in India. Apart from preparing the boys for CBSE class 10 and 12 exams, they also train their cadets for UPSC (NDA), i.e., National Defence Academy.

Only students who are studying in class 10 can apply for NTSE exam. As you are studying in a college, you are not eligible for the same.
