MODE OF ADMISSION

• It is a two-step process. One needs to qualify the JEE (Main) (https://www.collegepravesh.com/entrance-exams/jee-main/) exam and then take the JEE (Advanced) (https://www.collegepravesh.com/entrance-exams/jee-advanced/) exam.
• One must separately apply for IIST Counselling (https://www.collegepravesh.com/admissions/iist-thiruvananthapuram-admissions/) . Admissions are based on the aggregate marks scored in JEE (Advanced) (https://www.collegepravesh.com/entrance-exams/jee-advanced/) .

Currently there is no such criteria of 1st class or 2nd class at 10+2 level. So you just need to score the best you can.

However, usually marks greater than 60% are considered as 1st class or 1st devision.

the basic eligibility criteria is you need to pass 10+2 course with physics chemistry and biology from a recognized education board . the marks criteria  is different for different colleges.
