Apart from this some things should be mandatory i.e you should not have any past criminal case record and you have to be a permanent Indian citizen
There are two options to become a good Software Engineer as per academic degree .
For B.Tech , you need to have a basic skill of mathematics as well as for MCA too. There are some important topics in Math without which you can't understand some programming or algorithm based few logics .
If you are in class 12 now, so I would recommend you to brush up your skills in Maths to smooth your career in Software Engineering after Graduation/ Masters
Hope you understand !
Best wishes !!
Talking about the branch CSE, it is computer science engineering which is usually pursued by Software engineers or by the students to work in the computer science field as it provides the in the depth knowledge of the domain.
There are no such eligibility criteria but the student must have passed class 12th with PCM as the main subjects.
Concepts like OOPS, DBMS, Data structures and Algorithms and many more are the main subjects that help students during placement and jobs
Computer science is the most demanded branch in today's world due to its flexibility in work.

See, what Google requires is that you should be holding a degree in the field or a related field of Computer Science and Engineering. Google expects that your past academic records are good.
One more requirement is that you should be great in Data Structure and Algorithms, as most of their interview rounds are based on DS and Algo. So, just go to a good college and join CSE department, keep your grades high and keep practising DS and Algo, and you will easily get a job at Google. All the best!
