You don't need to buy any book in SRM. The teacher of respective subject will provide you enough material in form of ppt and word  documents will be more than enough for you.

Also the textbook which is mentioned for your syllabus ,you can easily get it from library.

As you didn't mention the branch it is little bit difficult to tell the exact syllabus for the upcoming exam.

If you want to take a rough idea then 2 and half module will be syllabus for first cycle test for every subject.
