In the main campus of SRM there are around 1600 seats for Computer Science and Engineering so there is a very good chance that you might get one either in core for any specialisations. It cannot be confirmed that you will get a seat in core branch or not because there is a high demand for CS seat the college and there are multiple ties at various ranks. But going along the previous trends it is almost certain that you will find yourself any specialisations in CSE for sure. Also you can opt for information technology or electronics and communication engineering if you do not want to go for specialisations.

For genetic engineering your rank is good as last year cutoff for genetic engineering is for ktr campus is rank 62000 and for core it is 9000.the minimum marks required to clear the cutoff is 180+.this year cutoff may goes up due to changes in factors.

Students need to register for counselling on 25th january and allotment is done on 27th january further counselling process is yet to be announced.

Your rank in SRM jee 5087 which is a good one rank in SRM jee. Rank between 5000 to 10000 is treated as good rank in SRM jee.Rank between those ranks who have the opportunity to select best future prospective stream of study in BTech computer science engineering, & electronics and  communication engineering will be the best choice filling opportunity in counselling. Every person with above rank will get first preference    for choice filling the stream of study between the two. As you've got 5087 rank so you may appear in counselling for choice filling session whether you joined the course or not that's your point of interest. No future barrier will be happened.

There is as such no minimum marks that you need to score to secure a seat in SRM institute of science and technology. But yes, your rank does matter a bit in your college fees.

A rank of below 10k is required to get a discount of 1L per year in the tuition fees and a rank of below 1k can get you a full discount in the tuition fees.

The total fees including mess and hostel comes out to be around 18-20L.
