how many free seats for MBBS are available for general category students

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 7th Jun, 2022

Hi

There's nothing like free seats for mbbs. There might be fee reimbursement schemes but for that general category students are not eligible .

It's just that fee in government medical college is extremely low.

So, as the seat is not free what you can do is pursue mbbs from a government college as it's very affordable by scoring well in neet examination.

If I tell you about total mbbs course fee then it completely depends upon the college one joins, as fee depends upon factors like :-

  • ********* whether the college is government or private

  • ********* whether the college is under central government like aiims etc

  • ********* or the college is under state government

---------------------------) The total mbbs fee  can be also low as around 6.88 k in Aiims Delhi ( central government) to as high as 1 crore in Private medical colleges.

For example,

Total mbbs fee in SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai is around 1.02 crores.

------------------------) While in state government colleges,

The total fee varies anywhere around  50k to 5 lakh .

For example,

The total mbbs fee in ESIC Medical College, Faridabad is around Rs 5,50,000. While total mbbs fee is around Rs 47,550 in Patna Medical College, Patna

You can get the list of government Mbbs colleges along with mbbs fee at:-

https://medicine.careers360.com/colleges/list-of-government-medical-colleges-in-india

------------------------) MBBS fee in Private colleges:- On an average fee is roughly around 25 lakh to 1 crore.

  • St Johns Medical College, Bangalore:- Rs 24 lakh

  • KMC Mangalore - Kasturba Medical College:- 70.lakh

  • MS Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore:- 63 lakh

  • IIMSR Lucknow - Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research:- 67 lakh

  • SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Chennai:- 1 crore

You can get the list of private Mbbs colleges along with mbbs fee at:-

To help you further,

Here's how you can get admission in MBBS :-

----------------) Appear in Neet examination

  • To be eligible for neet one must be either appearing for  12th board examination 2021 or should have passed 12th board examination with physics, chemistry ,biology/biotechnology and English and must have got at least  50  % in aggregate of PCB  i.e Physics, Chemistry and Biology /biotechnology in 12th examination  if belongs to general category , or   at least  40%  in aggregate of PCB if belongs to  Obc/ Sc /st category. Also needs to be at least 17 years old. You can get complete eligibility criteria at https://medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-eligibility-criteria

----------------) Qualify neet examination. Qualifying cut off in neet is given below

  • General :- 50th Percentile

  • OBC:-  40th Percentile

  • SC :-40th Percentile

  • ST :-  40th percentile

To be on the safer side, out of 720 marks, target at least around 580 -630 marks for state quota seats and 650 marks in neet for All india quota seats if you belong to general category.

----------------) Participate in neet counselling. There are 2 counsellings -

  • Mcc counselling :- It is conducted for 15% AIQ seats, 100% Deemed Universities seats, Central Universities  seats (Delhi University, AMU & BHU ), 100% ESIC seats , AFMC  seats (only Registration Part) & I.P University (VMMC & SJH AND ABVIMS & RML & ESIC Dental, Delhi (15% AIQ + 85% Institutional Quota ) ,100% AIIMS seats & 100% JIPMER seats

Detailed information about counselling is available at

https://medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-seat-allotment

----------------) In the counselling, you can get a seat in a college on the basis of your rank in NEET examination and the category you belong to .

----------------) Then you have to report to the college and get your documents verified.

----------------) After document verification, finally you get admission in the college.

Are non local students eligible to get OBC category reservation under those 15% seats which are supposed to be filled by non local applicants? My query is for APLAWCET 2022.

Sharon Rose Student Expert 7th Jun, 2022

Hello,

Candidates belonging to non-local category will be considered as general category candidates regardless of their categories. Only the candidates belonging to local category will be considered under reserved category. 85% seats are reserved for candidates belonging to local region and 15% seats are reserved for non-local candidates. So if you belong to non-local region and applying for AP LAWCET 2022 then you will be considered as general category candidate.

AP LAWCET 2022 registrations started from May 13, 2022 and the last date to apply for it without late fee is June 13, 2022. The last date to apply with late fee of Rs 500 is June 20, 2022. The last date to apply with late fee of Rs 1000 is June 27, 2022. The last date to apply with late fee of of Rs 2000 is July 4, 2022. To apply use the link below
