So, with regard of you're query. See, the true reality is that the National Institute of Technologies (NITs) which are situated in the North-East of our country (Assam, Sikkim, Mizoram, Meghalaya etc.) they do not have a very impressive infrastructure, and many labs are make-shift labs with no permanent construction.
So, yes it is true that you'll have to go to IIT KGP for some things but that's perfectly fine. Being an NIT, it will always uplift your CV no matter what, so I think that you should definitely go for it!
See, BITS Pilani (All the campuses at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad) only consider the admission of those people through the board marks scheme who have topped their respective boards exams.
For example if there are two persons, on is the 1st rank of CBSE board and the second is 2nd ranker in the same boards, then BITS will only offer the admission to the first person. If you are the topper of board, you can easily apply at BITS. All the best!

Hello Rohan,
Hope you are going great!
To answer your question, you do not come under GEM (General, Engineer, Male) category, as you are a pharma student.
And obviously, you do have a change to get into IIM A/B/C, with good extra-curricular, and co-curricular. IIM's are trying to diversify, and you do stand a chance to get into them.
Best of luck!
