To pursue post graduation courses in medicine (MD/MS) from the UK, you have to give either of the two examinations mentioned below:

  1. Professional Linguistics Assessment Board (PLAB) is the eligibility test for international medical graduates which tests your skills and knowledge. It is conducted as a 2 part test by GMC. Part 1 consists of MCQs and part 2 will test your objective clinical knowledge.
  2. Membership of Royal College of Physicians (MCRP) is a post graduate diploma which takes place in a three part assessment.

You can also pursue MD either with or without PLAB in the top NHS Hospitals, but some sources say it does not include orthopedics. Requirements-

  • MBBS from a recognized institute
  • 2 years of post MBBS (including 1 year of internship)
  • No unexplained gap in MBBS career
  • Should not appear and fail to pass PLAB
  • IELTS score 6
  • You must be registered with MCI
