How many years of college is needed to be a surgeon?

Hello aspirant!!

You have to attend minimum around 6years of college to become surgeon after 10+2

  1. Firstly you have to undergo your undergraduate medical course that is bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery.It's takes around five and half years it complete your course.
  2. After this you can join hospitals as surgeon or pursue higher education.

Dear Aspirant,

Cardiothoracic Surgeons generally performs surgery of the heart and chest i.e. the thorax part.

The salary of an entry level cardiothoracic surgeon having (1-3 years of experience) is around 19 LPA. On the other end, a senior level cardiothoracic surgeon having (8+ years of experience) has an average salary of 50 LPA .

In india the average salary for these surgeons is nearly 30 LPA, and experinece has a very large effect on salary.

Hi Rahul!

Cardiac Surgeons operates heart, lungs and other chest organs. They perform surgery, diagnose and treat diseases of the above organs.

Cardiothoracic Surgeons perform procedures through incisions which will make them divide the breastbone and working in between the ribs.

So, on the whole, yes Cardiac Surgeon, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Cardiovascular Surgeons and Thoracic Surgeons all are the same!

After you Obtain your MBBS degree. You have to Obtain MS in General Surgery. Then go have to get MCh in Cardiology. You can do fellowship if to want as it increases your experience level and then you can easily apply for the job.An MD or MS or DNB needs an aggregate of 55 percent and needs to have permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or a State Medical Council. They need to have two years of surgical experience.

And general  surgeon work for an average of 12.7 hours a day and around 63.5 hours per week.

As it depends upon the knowledge skills and experience of that person and also on the pay in the public sector or central service .

A cardiac surgeon who just passed out can definitely expect a starting salary at 1lac per month in a metropolis and much more if one can go to smaller cities and towns. Se nior cardiac surgeons in big hospitals in major cities might earn up to 5 lacs a month .
