which among Woxsen, ICFAI & Symbiosis are the best b-schools in terms of faculty, career development opportunities & placements? also which among finance, marketing & HR r best(am very much confused abt these subs as I belong to engg background)

Niveditha 30th Nov, 2019

Hi...

Symbiosis is a academic institutions which includes universities and colleges. There are 15 Symbiosis colleges accepting SNAP score. The MBA colleges accepting SNAP score is affiliated to Symbiosis International University, Pune .

ICFAI Group has a large team of faculty pool coming from diverse fields with a unique blend of academic ,research ,industry and consulting experience.

WOXSEN School of Business is a business school located in Hyderabad, Telangana. It gives two years full time PGDM program.

I has got the 26th ranking in best business school by Asia Inc 500. Renowed by 20 best universities in the world.

Among Symbiosis ,WOXSEN and ICFAI colleges , I would surely suggest for ICFAI or Symbiosis colleges.

SIBM colleges offers many specializations compared to IBS colleges.

Both these gives the MBA programs, and the colleges hold good reputation.

These colleges offers good placements with the average package of 6 to 8 lakhs per annum and highest of 15 lakhs per annum.

Not all IBS colleges have the same reputation and high placement records.

The top three IBS colleges are:

IBS Hyderabad

IBS Mumbai

IBS Kolkatta

These above mentioned colleges have ranking 7th among top B;shoolsnof Super excellence. B-school survey has given A+++ category.Overall 6th rank inn south zone.

The top colleges of symbisois are:

SIBM(Sybiosis Institute of Business Management)- Pune

SCMHRD(Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development)Pune

SIIB(Symbiosis Institute of International Business)- PUne

SIBM (Sybiosis Institute of Business Management)- Bangalore

I suggest to take only these colleges either in Symbiosis or ICFAI Colleges.

The specializations which you choose should be based on your interests and passion.

For finance you should need skills like analytics, statistics and predictions in finance, budgets.

For HR you must have interest in human psychology, organizational behavior, organizational development, dealing with range of professionals , employee psychology , work place issues, political and economic  issues.

Marketing and sales go hand-in-hand. Marketing also involves advertising and digital marketing. For marketing you need patience, pleasant smile , good body language , and adapt to the changing trends.

Best luck...

Which symbosis college is best for MBA in operations SIOM,SCMHRD,SIIB,SIBM

Soumya Kanta Sarkar 26th Nov, 2019

Nowadays, students with an engineering background are mostly preferring operations and supply chain management. Going for a career in Operations Management is a little risky and you have to choose the college wisely as quality placements in that field is provided by only a few institutes. Now you have certainly an inclination towards Symbiosis colleges and no doubt, they are very reputed ones.

SIBM (Pune) is a tier 1 B-school in India with a SNAP cut-off of 97+ percentile for Indian Students. That means you have to be among the top 2000 of some 50000 test takers and trust me, that is something. SIBM offers a wide range of specialisations from Marketing. Finance, Operations, Human Resources. The average package of Operations is 17.44 lakhs (2018-19 placement report) with companies like Cummins India, DCM Shiram, Bosch Limited, Deskera, Tata Communications, Societe Generale extending the offer of employment to the students.

SCMHRD (Pune) is also one of the eminent institutes in India while coming to courses in Human Resources but no doubt, it still retains its importance while coming to the other specialisations like Marketing, Finance, Operations, etc. The cut-off for SCMHRD remains slightly higher than SIBM Pune so there is more competition in getting oneself admitted to this college. For the top 50% of the batch in Operations, the median salary for the final placements is 14.5 lakhs per annum with companies like Amazon, Godrej, EY, GE, Deskera, Google and other companies extending the offer of employment to the students.

SIIB (Pune) is a college with courses dealing with International Business and thus the specialisations are also in the field of International Business. SNAP cut-off lies in the range of 88-90 percentile. Companies like Crisil, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finserv, L&T Finance have extended the offer of employment to the students and the average and median salary lies at 10.60 and 10.45 lakhs per annum respectively for the batch of 2017-19.

SIOM (Nashik) is one of the few colleges in India which is providing specialised course of MBA in Operations Management only. With a view of transforming an individual into techno business leaders, this college keeps a low SNAP cut-off of 75 percentile for the engineers(as Engineers are only eligible to apply). Functional comprehension of SAP and Six Sigma (Green Belt) are the stated USPs of this college. The average compensation for the freshers remain at 9.50 lakhs per annum while for the experienced people at 10.06 lakhs per annum. The highest package is 21 lakhs per annum. SIOM witnesses recruiters from Consulting, FMCG, E-Commerce, IT/ITES, Logistics and Manufacturing domains. Companies like GE, Godrej, Infosys, KPMG, Express Roadways are some of the organisations extending their offers to the 2018 batch.

For the summer placements or the internships, try to choose a proper role which best suites the career you want to pursue as the two months will provide a good CV point and will help you a lot in your final placements( if you haven’t got PPO).

Now, it all boils down to your choice as to which college you want to get to. If you really become serious for the two years of your MBA and enrich your CV with live projects, internships then you will definitely stand a chance of getting picked up by the reputed companies. A company looks for a candidate who possesses a good communication skill and someone who is thorough with the basics of the specialisation. Converting a good company is not a herculean task but a mix of luck and hard work.

What should be the preparation strategy for SNAP is last 15 days to get into SIBM Pune or Banglore?

rehan18alam Student Expert 23rd Nov, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

Since less than two weeks are left i suggest you should avoid learning any new concepts now. Focus on your strong areas now and brush up your basics.

If you are giving mocks then keep on with them but do not give ant mock the day before the exam.

You can also focus on things like puzzle games or reading articles on various topics.

Focus on time management skills. Time plays important role in all entrance exams.

If you have some notes, go through them. But avoid learning something completely new, atleast not in the last week.

Hope this helps. Thanks

Hello Mehul,

TAPMI T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) was established in 1980 and is located in Manipal. It is a quite prestigious B school. It is a private autonomous school with a 42 acre campus size. The average package is 11.06 lakhs.

SIBM banglore, is also a private institute and was established in 2008. The fees for MBA here is around 7.5 L per anum. The best part about this is the location and the teaching methodology. It competes with some of the top colleges for MBA in the world. Student strength here is around 210.

Great Lakes Institute of Management is a private business school in India. It was founded in 2004. The main campus is in Chennai. Student strength here is around 250. Average package is around 9.5L. https://www.careers360.com/colleges/great-lakes-institute-of-management-chennai I think SIBM Banglore would be the best choice among the three. After that TAPMI and then Great Lake.

Hope this helps
