Question : Select the correct direct form of the given sentence.

He told me not to jump to any conclusion.

Option 1: He said to me, “Not jump to any conclusion.”

Option 2: He said to me, “Don’t jump to any conclusion.”

Option 3: He told to me, “Don’t jump to any conclusion.”

Option 4: He said to me, “Not to jump to any conclusion.”

Team Careers360 25th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: He said to me, “Don’t jump to any conclusion.”

Solution : The correct choice is the second option.

The direct form of a sentence typically involves quoting the exact words spoken by someone.

The steps of conversion are as follows:

  • The reporting verb "told" is changed to "said".
  • The pronouns remain the same because the original sentence doesn't involve a change in person.
  • The imperative phrase "not to jump to any conclusion" is quoted directly and enclosed within quotation marks.

Therefore, the direct form would be: He said to me, "Do not jump to any conclusion."

I completed my studies till 7th standard in Telangana and finished my further studies upto 10th standard in Maharashtra but i am studying in Telangana for intermediate(11th & 12th). I was born and brought up in Telangana state itself. My parents are residents of TS. Will I be considered as local?

Tanya Gupta 11th Jan, 2024

Hello,

Based on the information you provided me, since you were born and brought up in Telangana and your parents are residents of Telangana, you should be considered a local candidate. The Local status is typically determined by factors such as the place of birth, residence, and education in a particular state.

The educational eligibility for being a TS Local is that- A candidate shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation to a local area, If he/she has studied in an educational institution or educational institutions in such local area for a period of not less than four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared.

I hope this helps,

Thank you
