is the UGC going to be scrapped in 2021 n replaced by HEIs

Shivam Khare 12th Dec, 2020

Hello Dear Student,

According to New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will replace UGC from next academic session.

Along with UGC, AICTE and NCTE will also dissolve and they will be merged and replaced with HECI.

HECI will be the new, apex regulator for university and higher education in India. It has to set benchmarks for academic performance, ensure that institutions adhere to these and act against those that violate standards.

HECI will be governed by a commission headed by a chairperson and vice-chairperson selected by a committee which will include the Cabinet Secretary and Higher Education Secretary (HRD).

I am BC Christian. Under which category should I have to opt for NET UGC?

myidshivanisrivastava 5th Dec, 2020

Hello Fedrica,

Christians can claim OBC and ST reservation. Only followers of Dharmic religion claim SC reservation.

So, I think you should opt for OBC category in NET UC.

For more details on Reservation categories, you can check their official website or this link:

doing bsc agriculture in ugc (non icar ) university student studies and in getting job can get affected

theeanonymous 17th Jan, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Getting an agriculture degree from ICAR recognized university  definitely holds a good value and standard, so an ICAR certificate may give a little higher weightage while applying for jobs but that does not mean , a BSc agri degree from other institutes are invalid. If your institute or college is UGC approved , you have nothing to worry . You can apply for both private and government jobs with degree from a non icar university too. What matters is your knowledge and skills ,maintain a good grade or merit to attract  good opportunities. However, try your maximum to get into an ICAR institute as the quality of education will be better than the rest.
