I have one year gap after my inter(12th class). i.e, I have dropped out of my BTech after one year and started freshly in another college. now I have graduated successfully and got an admit to a UK university. Do I need to mention this gap in my UK visa application? would that affect my visa?

Drishti Yadav 2nd Dec, 2021

Earlier age gap was a matter to take an account of , however after the new UK student visa system called point based system came into effect now it becomes the duty of your academic sponsor to check your documents , if they issue you letter of acceptance then UK border agency will not investigate anything regarding the gap. Also a gap of up to 2 years is allowed for undergraduate and diploma students, plus for postgraduates its 8 years, also you need not worry about mentioning the gap since they ask you regarding the gap and all you need to do is to justify the gap. A one year gap is acceptable, plus the major reason for rejection of visa is insufficient funds and not the gap of education, so if you mention it just justify the reason, because your age would be reflected in the documents so think well and take the appropriate decision.

Ishita Upadhyay 27th Nov, 2020

Hello aspirant,

Here, the answer varies considerably by country. In the UK , being a self-funded PhD student can be an expensive undertaking, with an annual tuition bill of approximately £3,000 to £6,000 (about US$3,800-7,670) for domestic students and up to £18,000 ($23,000) for international students for the first three years.

Hope it helps!

What if I didnt get job and didnt able to pay education lone?

Kunal Singh 15th May, 2019

If you are not able to pay loan, here’s what will happen:

  • The entire loan balance and any accrued interest immediately becomes due and payable
  • You lose eligibility for certain programs, like student loan forgiveness, forbearance, deferment, and changing repayment plans
  • You lose eligibility for additional financial aid
  • Your loan will be reported to the credit bureaus as being in default and it will hurt your credit score (if your loan is already in default.
  • You can be subject to wage garnishment to pay the debt (if you are a Federal employee, you could be subject to up to 15% garnishment due to the Federal Salary Offset)
  • Your lender could take legal action against you
  • Your lender could place a lien on any property you own
  • You could have your tax return garnished
  • You could have your Social Security and other Federal payments garnished

With all of these, your student loan debt can end up costing you a place to live, and more.
