Yes University of Calcutta does take admission for engineering courses through third attempt of WBJEE, however, you might face some difficulties during placements. If you're currently enrolled in any college, it would be my advice not to think of re-appearing for WBJEE again and concentrate on your engineering.

Firstly whatever college you would get seat in totally depends on the counseling committee so wait for their mails.

Secondly university of Calcutta is quite good for engineering, the placement is also average and the faculty and infrastructure is also average hence it is good college to study
