i am a general category female student with bcom degree.10th-95%in cbse.12th-94.8% in cbse.Bcom-90.3%( kerala university 2nd rank holder)

Hi Mithila

You academic credentials are very good. 9-9-9 is a very good combination and hence I would say your profile is very strong. Being a university ranker you stand among the top/cream of the country. Therefore, CAT percentile can be in the normal range and CAT doesn't have to compensate for your Acads. Infact Acads will prove to be strong support.

To get into IIM A,B,C - you would need around 99.55ile and above. However, IIM B gives weightage to co-cirriculars as well. So you can expect a call at 99 too. Infact I know a perswon who has got IIM B call at 97 percentile in Cat'16.

For IIM L,K,I - it is safe top have above 96%ile though some people with 94%ile also get a call.

If you are looking at other top colleges like SPJain, NITIE, FMS, MDI etc., I would day a percentile above 98 is very safe and above 96 is decent. However below 95 may never get you a call from any top college.

All the best

Hello Ashiqnaseer

Pursue the field in which you are comfortable and feel that you can do something better and contribute significantly too. Yeah nowadays people only wants to pursue MBA to get placed. Let me tell you doing MBA is not a short cut to get placed. Making yourself worthwhile is imperative to achieve.

Giving you a clear picture of market demand, Btech with MBA is market demand. For finance B.Com with MBA and operations field is alfo an emerging at high pace. You will get placed only if you have proper knowledge about it . And an adage goes like this " do what you love and love what you do". So think about long term goal.

Incase you want to go for Btech, you should have passion for it because is there crowd too. What makes to stand apart is your zeal and curiosity and only achieving degree should be in your mind. And learning should be your only goal.

Though Science graduate do not have value in our country but US and Germany offering scholarships for science students to study there and get placed.

So immense opportunity is there awaiting, just focus on your learning part and growing with it.

Good luck for your career ahead

which is best.kerala university or amritha institute for bba?now iam studiying in kerala university

manisha.gupta 10th Sep, 2018

Both are the decent college. There will be the fees difference, University of Kerala has less fees structure than Amritha so you can choose as per your convenience. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research academia that is accredited 'A' by NAAC and is ranked as one of the best research institutions in India. University of Kerala is the best University in the state (Chancellors Award for Best University in the state). The colleges help the students of academic excellence through holistic education and development of right skills.

Good Luck!

i am studiying bba under kerala university.it is not deemed.its a private self financing collage under kerala university.

Hello,
No doubt you must pursue your dream of getting a good B-school. There's no second thought about it.
Though it's equally good that you have kept a second option (called a B plan).
Start working hard from now on, if you are planning to give CAT'18 or you can take sufficient time and give the next year.
Preparation opens up a lot of other options that are definitely worth trying , especially for a course like this which almost every institute provides now. So it's better that you try to get into a good college that adds a glory to your resume.
Give it a shot.
All the best!!
