If you want to choose among two universities as you asked above so I would prefer you to go with VIT Vellore because VIT Vellore ranks on 1st position by Careers360 ranking whereas UPES Dehardun is on 16th position. Moreover VIT has better quality education with proper placement assistance and providing a wider exposure to the industrial trainings to the students.

VIT Vellore has larger infrastructure as compare to UPES Dehradun and fees for B.Tech in CSE is also less in VIT Vellore.

In my views KIIT is much better than UPES in the field of Computer Science .

Kiit is accredited from each and every board in india. Also its been accredated by Washington accord which only IIT's and some NIT's have got.

Highest campus placement (2015–2016) is of Rs 37 lakhs. Also average package for CSE students in kiit is nearly about 6 lacs.

Companies like amazon,Flipkart,deloitte,Microsoft etc have came for campus recruitment.

University of Petroleum and Energy studies, Dehradun is one of the best private universities of India. Placements are also good. Most of the placements are done in IT and Software companies. For Petroleum Engineering, the placement is average. Petroleum engineers are recruited by Oil and gas companies, Energy and Power Utility companies etc under various job roles like Production Engineer, Reservoir Engineer, Drilling Engineer, Well Logging Engineer, Well Testing Analyst, Mud Logging Engineer etc. Weatherford, Shell, Adani, Baker Hughes, Cairn Energy, L&T are few recruiters of petroleum engineers.
