See maximum number of attempts allowed for JEE-Main to any candidate is 12 (4 session consecutively for 3 years i.e. 4*3=12) and these 12 attempts get started from the very first appearance of candidate for class 12th examination from any of the recognized board.

In UP board- candidate can give class 12 th exam again(same board) for improvement in score via improvement form only. But in case you have passed your class 12th already from UP board then it is not advised to give class 12th exam from same board
