while filling up the CUET form do we need to enter the best of five marks(500) which we obtained in class 10 ICSE Or the marks of all subjects i.e 1000?

Tanya Gupta 12th Feb, 2024

Hello,

While filling out the CUET form, you need to enter total marks, that is, 600 and in case you have 7 subjects then 700. You do not need to enter marks of all the 10 subjects because most of them are represented as combined, such as, English and English Language are  one subject and History & Civics and Geography are one subject. So in total, you have to enter marks of all the 6 subjects.

Hope this helps,

Thank you

Question : The remainder when $19^{19}+20$ is divided by 18, is:

Option 1: 3

Option 2: 2

Option 3: 1

Option 4: 0

Team Careers360 24th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 3

Solution : To find: The remainder when $19^{19}+20$ is divided by 18.
Now, 19 $\equiv$ 1 (mod 18)
⇒ 1919 $\equiv$ 119 (mod 18)
⇒ 1919 $\equiv$ 1 (mod 18)
⇒ (1919 + 20) $\equiv$ (1 + 20) (mod 18)
⇒ (1919 + 20) $\equiv$ (1 + 2) (mod 18) (Since 20 divides by 18 leaves a remainder of 2)
⇒ (1919 + 20) $\equiv$ 3 (mod 18)
So, the remainder when $19^{19}+20$ is divided by 18 is 3.
Hence, the correct answer is 3.

Question : Sentences of a paragraph are given below. While the first and the last sentences (S1 and S6) are in the correct order, the sentences in between are jumbled up and named P, Q, R, and S. Arrange the sentences in the correct order to form a meaningful and coherent paragraph.

(S1) Newspapers, especially of the popular variety, aim to do two things: to inform and to entertain.

(P) Entertainment may be principally found in the centre pages of the newspaper in some of the feature articles and in some local news stories.
(Q) The principal aim of the short news report on the front pages is to inform.
(R) Most newspapers are published daily, and the news reporters must make sure that they have up-to-the-minute news.
(S) In their news reports, they will aim to create a sense of immediacy, to convey the impression that they have 'rushed' the news to the reader and 'that the information contained in the very latest.'

(S6) Reporters also wish to create a sense of authenticity, that is, that their news is accurate and genuine.

Option 1: Q, S, R, P

Option 2: R, P, S, Q

Option 3: S, R, P, Q

Option 4: P, Q, R, S

Team Careers360 25th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: P, Q, R, S

Solution : The correct order is the fourth option, i.e., P, Q, R, S.

Sentence (P) comes first after S1 because it expands on the aspect of entertainment. After that, sentence (Q) is the most appropriate because it introduces the primary purpose of front-page news reports. Sentence (R) comes next, as it provides context for the previous sentence. Sentence (S) is at the end because it continues to describe the approach of news reporters.

Question : Select the correct passive form of the given sentence.
Harsh has applied for leave.

Option 1: Leave was applied by Harsh.

Option 2: Leave is applied for by Harsh.

Option 3: Leave has been applied for by Harsh.

Option 4: Leave had been applied by Harsh

Team Careers360 21st Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: Leave has been applied for by Harsh.

Solution : The correct choice is the third option.

Passive voice is the voice in which the object experiences an action rather than the person who performs the action. Hence, the object in the active sentence becomes the subject in the passive voice.

The structure of the passive voice in the case of the present perfect tense is: "Singular object + has + been + past participle form of the main verb + prepositional phrase."

Therefore, the passive form is: "Leave has been applied for by Harsh."

Question : Directions: In the following question, some parts of the sentence have errors, and some are correct. Find out which part of the sentence has an error. The number of that part is the answer. If a sentence is error-free, your answer is "No Error".

The tragedy of Julius Caesar (1) / was written by William  Shakespeare (2) / about 1599.  (3) /  No Error (4)

Option 1: (1)

Option 2: (2)

Option 3: (3)

Option 4: (4)

Team Careers360 22nd Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: (3)

Solution : The error in this sentence is in part (2):

The correct way to write this part of the sentence is: "was written by William Shakespeare."

Here's the explanation: There is a missing space between "William" and "Shakespeare." It should be "William Shakespeare" as a single name without a space in between. So, it should read, "The tragedy of Julius Caesar was written by William Shakespeare about 1599."
