Almost all the subjects are important in the view of UPSC, i agree that history, geography , polity are also the most important and difficult subjects but economics is also a major subject when preparing fot UPSC IAS.


You can definitely prepare for IAS while in commerce stream.

Note Technical services have min requirements. You should have a proper vision in the eyes, those who have mayopia are unfit for IAS.

With squint are fit.

night blindness is also unfit for service. Candidates free from hypertension are fit.

The hearing ability should be good.

Mere getting selected cannot make you an Army officer. You need to get into Officers Training Academy, Chennai for 9-11 months of hard training. Under the circumstance conditions also, no candidate is allowed to leave training in between. However, you can do so after completing the training. You

As you are an IAS aspirant, you can choose and study any degree course because for IAS minimum education qualification needed is degree in any discipline. You you can take any degree course from streams like Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, Medical, Management etc.
