i was born in 26/01/1992. can i give upsc exam 2024

Anurag Khanna 24th Jun, 2022

Hello Aspirant,

If you belongs to General/Unreserved category then you will not be eligible for UPSC 2024 otherwise you will be eligible.

See as per your Date of Birth your age in 2024 would be 32+ years by August 1st, 2024 and the age limit for UPSC IAS exam is 21 year to 32 year with following age relaxation as per the reservation criteria of UPSC :-

>>>> OBC - 3 years

>>>> SC/ ST - 5 years

>>>> Defense Services Personnel, who got disabled during operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence - 3 years

>>>> Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers (CO) and ECOs/ SSCOs who will render at least five years Military Service as of August 1, 2021, and have been released - 5 years

ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as of 1st August 2021 - 5 years

>>>> In the following cases: blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, locomotor disability including acid attack, cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, victims and muscular dystrophy, intellectual disability, autism, specific learning disability and mental illness - 10 years

>>>> Candidates ordinarily domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir from January 1, 1981, to December 31, 1989. - 5 years

So as per the age criteria you are only eligible for UPSC IAS exam 2024 if you belongs to any of the reserved category as listed above because the candidate(Unreserved) should not have crossed the age of 32 years on the August 1st of examination year.

my dob is 22 April 2005 .... In which year can I give the upsc exam

Devyanshi Sharma 24th Jun, 2022

Firstly to be eligible for an upsc exam you need to hold a graduate degree from a recognised university. The minimum age to take the UPSC exam is 21 years which is common for all candidates. There are variations in the upper age limit as relaxations are provided to candidates belonging to different categories.

Upper UPSC Age Limit for general category – 32 years

Upper UPSC Age Limit for OBC – 35 years

Maximum age limit for IAS for SC/ST – 37 years UPSC does not discriminate against candidates based on their scores in graduation. Hence, there is no minimum qualifying percentage as the IAS eligibility condition. In you are in your final year of graduation awaiting results, then you are also eligible to appear for UPSC preliminary Examination. It means you will be eligible to appear for upsc in year 2026 respectively

sir my birth date is 12 December 2004. in which year iam eligible for my first attempt to upsc exam

Esha 23rd Jun, 2022

Hello Aspirant,

According to UPSC eligibility criteria, academic requirements are:

1. Minimum qualification for UPSC exam: The candidate must hold a degree from Government recognized Universities or possess an equivalent qualification.

2. Candidates who are in their final year or awaiting results are also eligible to appear for UPSC preliminary Examination. All such candidates who are likely to appear for IAS exams must produce proof of having passed the said examination along with the application for the main IAS examination.

3. Candidates having professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees.

3. Medical students who have passed the final year of MBBS, but are yet to complete their internship also have eligibility for IAS. Although, along with the Main Examination application, a certificate of course completion (including internship) from the concerned authority of the University/Institution has to be submitted.

And the IAS exam age limit is 21-32 years with age relaxation as per categories like:

General: Min: 21 Yr and Max: 32 yrs

EWS: Min:21 Yrs and Max: 32 Yrs

SC/ST: Min:21 Yrs and Max:  37 Yrs

OBC : Min: 21 Yrs and Max: 35 Yrs.

According to your birth year, you will be eligible in the year 2025-26.

Hope You find this answer useful.

Feel free to ask more :)

After graduation in Bachelor of arts, can I give UPSC exam and simultaneously pursue 3 year llb course?

Shilu Singha 20th Jun, 2022

Hello Aspirant!

Yes, absolutely you can.

The minimum educational qualification required for giving UPSC exam is Bachelor degree. If you're 21 years and have graduated the you're are eligible to give this exam.

Regarding the BA. Llb degree, you can still pursue it while preparing for UPSC. This will not hamper your opportunity to become an IAS.

Hope this answers your query. Good luck!
