Sharon Rose Student Expert 24th Aug, 2022

Hello,

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts several exams such as IES, IAS, NDA, CDS and other such examinations. You haven't mentioned the exam you are enquiring about. If your query is about UPSC IAS Entrance Examination then the minimum age to appear for UPSC IAS is 21 years as of August 1 in the year of application and the maximum age limit is 32 years as of August 1 in the year of application. Age relaxation is provided for the candidates belonging to the reserved category.

You age as of August 1, 2025 will be 20 years 5 months 12 days and as of August 1, 2026 your age will be 21 years 5 months 12 days. Considering the age criteria you are eligible to apply for UPSC IAS Entrance Examination in 2026. You are not eligible to apply for UPSC IAS 2025.

If your query is regarding any other examination then please mention it so that we can provide relevant query.

Could you pls provide details about appearing for UPSC examination during the last year of graduation. Is it true that you only need to finish graduation by the time of interview or is a degree certificate required even at time of prelims?

Tanu Shri 23rd Aug, 2022

Hello,

Here is the basic eligibility criteria you need to meet in order to give UPSC Exam:

  • You should be citizen of India  OR a subject to Nepal/ Bhutan OR Tibetan refugee who moved to India to permanently settle here before January 1, 1962.
  • Your age should be 21 to 32 years
  • Should have bachelor's degree (BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Tech etc.) with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering from recognised university.

Applicants awaiting their final graduation result can also apply for IAS exam. And there is no minimum UPSC qualification percentage required also.

So, you can definitely go for UPSC while in the final year of your graduation as you don't need any minimum required marks in graduation for it.

i want to appear for upsc but i m very confused that which graduation should i do

Sayan 15th Aug, 2022

Hello,

In any field, a degree or post-graduate degree is acceptable. Always choose a subject for your further education that you are interested in and confident in. Academic interests and careers shouldn't be sacrificed for a challenging and competitive public service position.

Go for it if you find physics or chemistry to be really intriguing. I've always believed that a competent science student has more flare and the capacity to craft accurate responses in a reasoned and impartial approach. First off, if you want to become an IAS, I advise you to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree. Sociology or political science are both acceptable majors.

One may pass any government test, including the UPSC, SSC CGL, State Public Commission Exams, and RRB, with the use of these topics.

These topics are incredibly enlightening and simple to comprehend.

Thank You

if I want to clear upsc means can I get graduation only from University or any other private colleges

Shilu Singha 14th Aug, 2022

Hello!

Getting a degree from any University or college is not at all related to UPSC exam. You can get your degree from any university or college of your choice. As in UPSC eligibility criteria it is not mentioned that the candidates from a private college is only allowed to appear in the exam. There's no such criteria. You can start preparing for the exams while pursuing your degree.

Hope this helps!
