There are 3 stages in UPSC :-

  • Stage I: Preliminary Examination (IAS Prelims) (objective)
  • Stage II: Mains Examination (IAS Mains) (written)
  • Stage III: UPSC Personality Test (IAS Interview)

In Prelims there are 2 paper :-

  • General Studies
  • CSAT

Prelims are Objective (MCQ) type.

Yes you are eligible for UPSC examination. This is public service examination. Those candidates age 21 years are eligible for UPSC examination. And your age 21years in 2024 so you are eligible. But you have to graduated or final year of graduation then you are eligible for this examination.

Frankly speaking, you have to prepare separately for UPSC and if you have a background to the subject then it will help you a little else there are no more advantages. Personally, I think Political Science will be better for you to study. Having a understanding in polity will help

Preliminary is the first stage in UPSC Exam, it is MCQs based with two papers,each consists of 200 marks,its numbers ain't added to final list, you just need to score the required cut offs against your category.

Yes, you can definitely appear for the UPSC CSE Examination having passed 10th/12th in Open School and pursuing Graduatiin in IGNOU. Of course once you graduate you may appear for UPSC as they need Graduation as one of the eligibility criteria. Yeah, and I believe youre referring to UPSC CSE.
