Veterinarian not only performs surgery, there are other jobs too depending on areas.
Veterinarians permorms other taks too like ::Examine diagnose and treat animals; prescribe and administer animal medications; take cell and tissue samples and perform diagnostic tests.

for Veterinary you need to go for BVSc and this is through neet. again, for agrivulture you either need to go for the joint entrance or the entrances that the universities take.
