Hi,
The basic meaning of the category rank is to see where you stand (on the basis of your WBJEE score) among the other candidates of your category. There are a number of seats in most of the colleges which are reserved for separate categories. During WBJEE e-counselling you will notice that they only ask for your general merit rank (GMR) that is because for the online college alotment procedure they consider your GMR only.
Now if you belong to a category, and your category rank is very good (i.e. <1000) then they might consider your category rank and check whether there is any other applied candidate from your category who has a better category rank than yours. If not, then you get one of the few reserved seats in that college under your quota.
Otherwise, they will go with your GMR only.
I hope that was helpful.
Dear Student ,
First of all , I need to remind you that the WBJEE admission is based on GMR rank only , the category ranks are just for storing information of candidates .
Well, as per last year WBJEE cut off after round 3, you have average chances to get B.Pharm through your marks :
like;
Gitanjali College of Pharmacy, Lohapur, Birbhum-64462
But , one thing you need to remember also that each year the cut off can vary due to several factors like seat matrix , difficulty level of question , no of students appeared etc.
You can also check WBJEE OR and CR details of prev year from here :

Hello Aspirant,
See the the participating institutions of WBJEE have two kinds of seats, on is known as Home state quota seat and another is known as All India quota seat. So it simply divide the seats in two proportions, one proportion is reserved for Home state candidates means those candidates who belongs to West Bengal can only get those Home state quota seats and just opposite with All India Quota seats, these seats are for those candidates who belongs to any state of India other than West Bengal.
There will be no separate rank for Home state candidates and the admission will be taken only on the basis of either your GMR (General Merit Rank) or your category rank if you belongs to any of the reserved category.

Good Luck!!
admission to engineering courses in Jadhavpur University is only possible by giving WBJEE exam and getting a rank under 2500. One or two seats are available for lateral entry for which you need to complete diploma course and give WEBJELET exam but it has a much lower chance for admission into JU. If selected you get direct admission to 2nd year. There are also one or two seats for national sports quota. So the only possible way to get engineering course seat in JU is the WBJEE exam.
BEST OF LUCK!!
