Xavier Institute of Management, XIM University, Bhubaneswar
Hey Raj,
This is a very interesting field that you will be entering after your course in Urban Management and Governance.
Urban areas are complex entities with a concentration of people supported
by utilities and services held together by rules and institutions.
They are growing at a rapid pace in terms of population and geography.
Urban areas need constant attention to maintain existing structure and
manage future expansion.
Urban Management is an upcoming field requiring
specialized knowledge of urban settlements and management practices.
Urban managers understand how townships and cities function and they
strive to improve the social, technological, operational and financial
functioning of urban areas with the aim of improving livability
The XUMG is the University’s leading initiative to develop, transfer
and disseminate knowledge about building sustainable, smart and
liveable cities
Program Structure:
The MBA-UMG Program includes core and elective coursework and other
learning segments of 111 credits. Each credit requires 10 hours of
classroom contact or its field equivalent, and another 10 hours
outside the classroom for preparatory reading and assignments.
Students are thus expected to spend about 70 hours a week for
their academic work, in preparation for the rigours of a public
management career.
The core courses provide the conceptual and
theoretical fundamentals of management, urban analysis and spatial
development, and the analytical frameworks and tools for field
learning.
These are augmented by Urban Learning Experience (Urban Studio),
Urban Management Internship, UMGP Colloquium, Immersion Courses, seminars
and leadership talks.
Students have the opportunity to specialize by selecting appropriate electives
and completing a capstone project in any of the following areas –
• Water and Waste Management

Hi Navya, generally the cutoffs are not fixed for any colleges. It varies every year based on a lot of factors like number of seats available, number of test takers and the difficulty of exam etc. But going by the past records, a minimum of 180+ is enough for HR program call for the next round. This year it might vary, but I think you are in safe zone and have high chances to be called up for the next rounds. All the best !!!
