XLRI admission criteria and steps to be taken

Sampriti Gupta Student Expert 9th Jan, 2020
First of all for XLRI you'll have to appear for XAT and score more than 99 percentile and based on your XAT scores and previous academic records they'll give you a call and you'll haven't to appear for the GD/PI rounds.
Just give your 100 percent and you'll be good to go

GOT PERCENTAGE IN 60s in 10TH, AND 70s IN 12TH, IN GRAD. GOT AROUND 55 PERCENTAGE, I WANT TO CRACK INTO XRLI OR . MOSTLY XLRI, AS I WANT TO PERSUE MBA IN HR. PLEASE HELP ME TO KNOW, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES I CAN CRACK THROUGH THESE COLLEGES,WITH BEST MARKS IN TISS AND XAT AND THESE ACADEMICS?

Loveena Gupta 18th Dec, 2019
Hy Revati

Well, in order to get admissions in Xlri, Xlri gives 60% weightage to Xat score and 25% weightage to Gd and Pi and remaining 15% is given to work experience, academics, essay writing, and other

If you perform excellent in Xat and its gd pi and wat process, then you can be a call holder for xlris

And when it comes to Tiss, it does not give any weightage to academic scores. And as per the change in the tiss exam 2020.

If you are applying for hr course and organizational development course, you have to now give tiss matt exam also. Which will be conducted immediately after tiss net and you can know about that exam from official website

Basically i want to tell you your first merit list will be of 100 % weightage to tiss net and if you qualify tiss net with sectional cut off of 35% marks for general awareness section as well.

Your tiss mat exam will then be considered.

And final merit list will be based upon 30% tiss mat, 40% for pre interview test and 30% to personal interview test.

So this is the crucial exam pattern change which you have to keep in your mind while preparing for your tiss exam 2020.

Good luck

businesses administration is best or hrm in xlri

Loveena Gupta 11th Dec, 2019

hello Vanisri

First and Foremost it's all about your interest or what objectifies your goal or your best interests and that's what makes the programme best.

Well, it it's XLRI we are discussing about then the BM (business administration)  is ranked within top 5 in INDIA. And it's HRM (human resource management) is considered the best in ASIA PACIFIC.

XLRI offers two year full time  Post Graduate Diploma (PGDM) in both the courses .

if we evaluate on the basis of overall cut off in BM and HRM courses for 2019

for BM                                  for HM

for female - 95                     for female - 93

for male - 96                        for male - 94

Cut off for BM course is slightly higher than HM  and this college evaluate scores on the basis of XAT.

Although BM is quite diverse as it comprises of finance, general management, operations, organisational behavior, etc basically it is a core course.

Whereas HRM is specialized course and it basically focuses on the human aspect of organisation . People who are certain about their interest in HR.

On basis of placements, students receive higher packages of around 23 lakhs in both the courses. Reputed companies come for both the streams.  Although campus placements is about for one or two years after that you have to build on your own and your interests will decide your long term success.

In terms of fee structure, both the courses have approx. 10 lakhs p.a.

My answer can seem to be a bit neutral because in both the courses there are very slight differences in terms of placement or fees. These courses are best in nation so obviously they have their best faculties.

In my personal opinion you can opt for BM because it is more diverse and you should choose for HR if you are certain and figured out your interests. but if you are getting admission in BM even if you want HR so going for BM would not be a bad choice but vice versa is not true.

Calculate your interests and decide because XLRI is definitely a great shot so choose wisely. Your passion can lie in either of them or in neither of them.

Good Luck

Aditya Saini 10th Dec, 2019

these are some points below given by xlri for students

  • There is no specific cut off percentage or CGPA to be obtained during graduation.

  • Candidates who are in the final year of graduation are also eligible for XAT 2020, provided that they receive their graduation degree before the admission process of XAT is completed.

  • So there is no minimum criteria of marks but you need to prepare hard because there is only less than a month for exam I am sharing a guide which helps you to prepare in well manner.

  • See if you push your limits you can achieve anything it does not matter what you get in previous exams

my academic history is bad & Cat results is 99 persentile which b school I choose?

Rishabh Jain 15th Nov, 2019

Hello there. Hope you are doing good. You have not mentioned the exact details of your academic history so I won't be able to tell the exact business schools which you will be eligible for. But I can help you by w=giving a very general answer.

Admission to most of the top B Schools is done considering your whole profile i.e your academic history, work experience (if any) and your CAT percentile. Since you have mentioned 99 percentile, then it is an exceptionally good score to get. If you have work experience or any other skill which you think that will be sufficient enough to impress the interviewers, then your academic history won't matter much. Though in certain B Schools, separate weight age is given to academic history but your CAT score can overshadow that very well.

You need not worry about the list of colleges. You will be eligible for almost all the top B Schools.

I hope you found this answer helpful. Good luck.

Yes you are eligible for both the exams as for XLRI Jamshedpur there is no minimum requirement of marks for appearing in the exam and for the Indian Institute of foreign trade, cutoff marks are 50% in any graduation for general category students.

Got 72% in 10th, 66.20% in 12th, 60% in grad so can i do mba/pgdm from top institutions like mba , xlri etc?

Amy Student Expert 2nd Sep, 2019
Hello,
The top institutions for MBA are the IIMs. Unfortunately, besides the CAT score, all IIMs consider the academic history of a candidate to some extent. So, you have chances, but not much. You will have to score really well in the CAT.
You have good chances at XLRI Jamshedpur. Also, you have good chances for other top colleges like FMS Delhi, provided that you score well in the entrance exams. Good luck!

Got 72% in 10th, 66.20% in 12th, 60% in grad so can i do mba/pgdm from iim/xlri i mean will i be eligible?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 2nd Sep, 2019
Dear Aryan, IIMs shortlist candidates for the interview stage based on their own criteria, which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interviews. Performance in the CAT examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may additionally use other factors such as the previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience, gender and academic diversity and other similar inputs in shortlisting and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. The following numbers might look confusing but if you can score this percentage against your Category, you can actually secure a call from IIMs and XLRI.
