There are 280 top medical colleges in India approved by MCI (Medical Council of India)  . Making total of 42,565 MBBS seats. And there are 64 PG institutes in India.
However , this number changes from time to time due to other organizations (UGC) approve it.

To become a Doctor you must study in a medical college in UG level. And to get seat in a medical college you must appear in NEET. The eligibility criteria for NEET is that a candidate must have passed 10+2 with English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry from a recognized.
