Question : A trader allows a 40% discount on his goods, but he loses 30% on them. Find the percentage of the marked price above the cost price.
Option 1: $15\frac{2}{3}\%$
Option 2: $15 \frac{1}{3} \%$
Option 3: $16 \frac{2}{3} \%$
Option 4: $16 \frac{1}{3} \%$
Correct Answer: $16 \frac{2}{3} \%$
Solution : Let the marked price (MP) be 100$x$ After a discount of 40%, the selling price = 60$x$ When a loss of 30% then, $\frac{70}{100}$ of cost price (CP) = 60$x$ ⇒ CP = $\frac{600x}{7}$ Difference in MP and CP = 100$x$ – $\frac{600x}{7}$
Question : Directions: Select the set in which the numbers are related in the same way as the numbers of the following set. (NOTE: Operations should be performed on the whole numbers, without breaking down the numbers into their constituent digits. E.g. 13 - operations on 13 such as adding/subtracting/multiplying etc. to 13 can be performed. Breaking down 13 into 1 and 3 and then performing mathematical operations on 1 and 3 is not allowed.) (44, 63, 98) (59, 99, 149)
Option 1: (81, 15, 87)
Option 2: (54, 73, 121)
Option 3: (19, 32, 44)
Option 4: (82, 13, 96)
Correct Answer: (81, 15, 87)
Solution : Given: (44, 63, 98); (59, 99, 149)
In the given sets, the sum of the first and second numbers equals the sum of the third number and 9. (44, 63, 98)→44 + 63 = 107; 98 + 9 = 107 (59, 99, 149)→59

Question : Directions: Which letter cluster will replace the question mark (?) to complete the given series? ABCD, EBCD, ?, OBCD, UBCD
Option 1: JBCD
Option 2: LBCD
Option 3: IBCD
Option 4: KBCD
Correct Answer: IBCD
Solution : Given: ABCD, EBCD, ?, OBCD, UBCD
According to the vowel series (A, E, I, O, U), the first letter is increased by 1 from the previous term and BCD is constant in all the terms – ABCD→A + 1 = E; According to
Question : Fifteen movie theatres average 600 customers per theatre per day. If six of the theatres close down, but the total theatre attendance stays the same, then the average daily attendance per theatre among the remaining theatres is:
Option 1: 900
Option 2: 1000
Option 3: 1100
Option 4: 1200
Correct Answer: 1000
Solution : Total attendance in 15 movie theatres = 15 × 600 = 9000 After the closing of 6 theatres, remaining theatres = 15 – 6 = 9 Attendance remains the same, so the required average: $=\frac{\text{Total attendance}}{\text{Remaining theatres}}$ $=\frac{9000}{9}$ $=1000$ Hence, the correct answer is 1000.
Question : Directions: Select the option in which the letter clusters share the same relationship as that shared by the given pair of letter clusters. XFI : CKN PFS : UKX

Option 2: DOP : IJU
Option 3: HPS : MUX
Option 4: TOM : YLN
Correct Answer: HPS : MUX
Solution : Given: XFI : CKN PFS : UKX
Add 5 in the place value of the letters of the first term to get the second term – XFI : CKN→X + 5 = C; F + 5 = K; I + 5 = N
Question : Comprehension:
Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow.
Rajasthan's farmers have been banging plates and lighting fires these days. It is their desperate attempt to scare away the swarms of migratory locusts invading their fields and eating away crops. The pest attack has come as a double blow for farmers already reeling under the impact of the COVID lockdown.
Millions of locusts, covering 1-4 sq km of the skyline, have reached 10 of the state's 33 districts within three weeks of being first spotted on April 30. Last year, yellow locusts entered India from Pakistan in the second half of May. The attack had originated in Yemen, coming all the way to West Asia, Pakistan, and then India, creating havoc in 17 countries en route.
With the harvest nearly over in Rajasthan, the invading population of grasshoppers this May is feeding mainly on sprouting cotton crops sown last month, vegetables, and fodder. State officials, though, fear damage to the young millet and moong dal crops due in July and August if the locusts breed.
Flying in through the Pakistan border near Jaisalmer, the locust swarms have infiltrated as deep as Kishangarh in Ajmer district. Locusts can cover 200–250 km in a day if they get wind support. Presently, the dust storms sweeping parts of Rajasthan are aiding their flight. Officials said the Union Agriculture Ministry's Locusts Warning Organisation (LWO) is in the process of acquiring 60 vehicles with mounted insecticide sprayers from abroad by July. Ten such vehicles were purchased this January.
"Immature pink locusts are very active, which is why they have reached the interiors of Rajasthan [from Pakistan] so quickly," says K.L. Gurjar, deputy director, of LWO. Their metabolism slows down during winters, but in summers, they can fly from 4 am to 8 pm, covering long distances and consuming more crops along the way than mature locusts would. The LWO has put 10 insecticide-spraying vehicles on the job in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan government has provided rented tractors, on which insecticide sprayers are mounted, and also the manpower to man them. The centre-state joint operation has so far cleared a few hundred sq km of fields of the locusts. Preliminary estimates put the loss to crops at a few crore rupees.
State officials say there is an urgent need to contain the pink locusts before they start breeding in the next few weeks. Indiscriminate aerial spraying of insecticides is ill-advised, as this can damage crops as well as affect human settlements.
One of the strategies being considered now is to use fixed-wing aircraft for ultra-low volume spraying of chemicals. The state government may request such aerial sorties from the Air Force. Drones have limited capabilities as they can carry only about 20 litres of insecticide at a time, making them effective only over small areas.
