Yes, a student who has PCB as their class 12th subject along with the maths as an optional paper can apply for NDA exam. As the eligibility criteria to appear for NDA, candidates applying for Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy must have passed class 12 with Physics and Mathematics conducted by State Education Board/ University.
NDA national defence academy exam is a national level exam which is conducted every year by UPSC UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION. It conducts students for admissions to the prestigious NDA for all the three services ie army, navy and Air force. This exam is conducted in two levels, first written exam which is followed by SSB.
Coming to your question the eligibility criteria is as follows -
Candidates applying for Army must have cleared 12 in order to appear for NDA.
Candidates applying for Air force or navy must have passed 12 th class with physics and maths as a subject.
So it depends on which service you want to apply for.
NDA exam appears twice every year. This year NDA II will be held on 7 August 2019. The forms will be filled online and the entry fees will be 100 rs per form. The payment can be made both online as well offline.
NDA EXAM PATTERN -
NDA exam is conducted offline ie pen paper based. It consists of 2 sections
Maths 300 marks
GK and English 600 marks
Time duration for the test is 2 hours 30 minutes.
4 marks are given for every correct answer and - 1. 33 for incorrect answer.
It is MCQ based exam.
GK consists of these subsection
Physics, chemistry, general science, history, geography, current affairs, economics.
Age limit eligibility -
Only unmarried male candidate who are not born on or before January 1 St 1999 and not after 1st January 2002 can appear for this exam.

Yes, of course student with PCB as main subjects and mathematics as an optional subject can apply for NDA. Even a PCB candidate is eligible for NDA and can apply for it. The problem which a PCB candidate has to face is that in the entrance examination of NDA paper 1 is of mathematics section which consists of questions from class 11&12th standard. So, if you can solve those questions then even a PCB candidate can crack NDA.
