After b.tech
Hi,
It is very easy to list out the reasons why you should do one course but that cannot be done without any idea of where your interests lie. I shall list some options and you can choose any if you like those. But first I shall suggest something that I suggest to all engineering students. Take up a job. the reason is that you will know where your interests lie, what is the actual ground reality in the industry and how best you can improve your qualification and in which direction. It then will be easier to decide what next to do. Moreover one year's experience always carries more weightage in postgraduation - be it M.Tech ot MBA.
Having said that, options are :
M.Tech - well a PG in the engineering domain will build your skill sets and give you a slight edge when you start your career. You will be building on that four year's engineering degree and the core skill sets you learnt in B.Tech. You could do that through GATE, apply for MS etc. GATE scores are accepted in Gemany & Singapore so you could look at that too.
MBA - if you think you need to have managerial skills and should start in a white collared job then MBA will help there. CAT, XAT and a host of other exams are there and you need to crack them.
Another suggestion is to look at courses offered by NITIE and some IITs as well. These management courses are designed primarily for engineers. That way you can build on your core skills and not waste them altogether.
Write back to us in case of any more clarifications or a further discussion on this. Ultimately you have to decide so you need to look at every option carefully. Its a life time decision for your careers. so take a bit of time and decide.
