After completing BE in mechanical engg what are the MTech options
Hi Pradeep
After your BTech in mechanical engineering , you have a lot of options to pursue for your specialization in your MTech degree. Mechanical engineering is often called the mother branch of engineering and many sub branches have sprouted out of it which you could specialise in for your masters degree.
Now coming to the options that are open to you for masters in mechanical engineering, here are the many choices you could consider for your specialisation for MTech based on your interest. Now coming to the various options , they are as follows:-
- Thermal engineering
- Product design
- Manufacturing engineering
- Robotics
- Automotive engineering
- Petroleum engineering
- Mining engineering
- Aerospace or Aeronautical engineering
- Engineering management
These were some of the main specializations that you can consider for your masters (MTech).
Now most of the IITs/NITs offer Mtech in Mechanical engineering. If you are research oriented , then IISc Bangalore is the best institute in the country as they have collaborations with many industries and organistions. If you want good placements then aim for the older IITs like IIT Kharagpur , Delhi , Bombay , Madras , Kanpur. IIT Kharagpur and Madras are good for thermal specialization. For getting admission in these top Indian institutes you need to clear the GATE exam with a good rank. Some foreign universities like the Technical University of Munich and the National University of Singapore too accepts GATE score and they too have a strong Mechanical engineering program. Placement wise there are lots of opportunities abroad than in India when we talk about MTech placements in Mechanical engineering. To get admission in these foreign universities you need to give the GRE exam along with a language test like TOEFL or IELTS.
There are lots of opportunities open for a mechanical engineer and it will always remain an evergreen core branch. So I hope I have been able to answer your question and I hope you get to study in your dream institution for Masters . My best wishes to you.
Thanks
